    Hello HOtpicks,

Can you tell us what thr Rheumy said first time. Also how long you have been with the problem and why you were refered to a Rheumy. Also have you had any blood tests?

Any X-rays and or MRIs done or ordered?

What we toss around here about PMR/GCA forms a recognize able pattern that we can fit pieces of personal info into. At your service.

If you have PMR and severe hip pain the first thing to consider would be trochanteric bursitis. That is something a GP/PCP can try combatting with a local cortisone injection.

Whichever what way - a recent study in the UK found that PMR can affect hands and feet. We all knew that but now they have proved it officially.

So you could ask your doctor to consider that and try a moderate dose of prednisolone to see if you get a good response - nothing lost if it doesn't work and it is one technique used by a UK PMR expert and his team.

Other than that we can't offer much in the way of suggestions - we're PMR/GCA "experts", not so up on general rheumatology! Good luck.
