I had my 1st outbreak in my vaginal area probably 4 weeks ago went to the E.R & they prescribed me some medicine to take to help the sores go away. So now I have to go back to the E.R to get more medication because I can't sleep because of this. Am I supposed to stay on medication to prevent this from happening again? I haven't been stressed so I don't know what caused the

Yeah I have a gyno appointment on Friday I'm going to ask about suppressive therapy. I just know some people with GH & their not on any medication and never had an outbreak. So I'm like why me?

Do you have Type 2? The first few months to a year are the worst, but subsequent recurrences should be a lot milder. Some people don't get obvious or major symptoms for various reasons, namely prior Type 1 infection (doesn't matter where) and/or the make-up and ability of the individual's cellular immune system to suppress outbreaks.

I was never told what type I have but I believe I have Type 2. Mine just seems more severe. When I had my outbreak on my vaginal area I also got a cold sore on my lip then a week later my anal area started itching bad & now I'm having an outbreak around my anus. Not sure if my 1st outbreak ever healed this might be still the 1st outbreak

It could be a continuation of your first outbreak. First outbreaks typically involve two crops of lesions about a week apart. You should find out the type, as type matters. Could well be Type 1, since you also had an oral lesion, in which case, you have little to worry about after this outbreak. If your doctor swabbed you, call and ask your type. If you were not swabbed and only visually diagnosed, but still have lesions now, get swabbed asap (pcr better if available and the lesions are 2+ days old).

Yeah I was only visually looked at which I thought was weird. No blood work or swabbed. I see my gyno on Friday but my lesions might be gone by then
