On prozac 40mg and ativan .5 mg. For 8 weeks feeling horrible

Whent from 20mg to 40mg of prozac. And. .5 mg of ativan a day. Its been weeks and I'm having debilitating nausea and stomach pain. And lump in throAt feeling. Doctor said the meds would help my panic and anxiety. Is this normal? !

    Hi Kelly,

    So sorry to hear you are suffering so much.  I have been on 20mg prozac for 6 months and am still not right and thinking of going up to 40mg but your post has put me off.  Nausea and dry retching have been my problem all along and the thought of this getting worse fills me with dread. 

    How long were you on 20mg before the doctor increased dose?

    Last time I was on LExepro and had none of these awful side effects, I just wish I had used them again.

    A lot of people go from 20 to 40 and feel good so hopefully you'll get a few positive replies.

    Good luck and stay strong although I know it isn't easy!

      I was on 20mg for a few Months. But felt horrible. So they increased the dose saying the flu like symptoms and lump in throAt was from anxiety. But I'm still feeling Prendergast day.

    Yes unfortunately it is normal.  I had them for 8 to 10 weeks along with problems swallowing & lump in chest.  

    I'm not sure now when I look back which went 1st because its a gradual decrease a bit like having blackout curtains and letting the light in an inch at a time.

    The last symptom to go was the overwhelming tiredness & lethargy.  

    I started on 20mg in Jan and was upped to 40mg & I felt like I was going backwards because I had more unpleasant side effects with the increase  but it was so worth it in the end as I now feel great, sleep great, I feel calm & in control of my life again.  

    Hope this helps you through the dark times & keep posting on this site as there is a lot of people on here that know what you are going through & can help, plus you are not alone & somebody will always hear you. Xx

      Thanks. Yeah it's so hard. It been week and I'm still miserable. Nausea tired out of it gagging feeling... but at least I know there a good outcome I just hop I can make it thru all these side effect
