On strict Purine low dies for 6 weeks but Uric Acid Levels have rissen

I got my first gout attack on Jan 24th and my uric acid levels were 8,4mg/dL. Sinse then I have been on a very strict vegiterian diet eating only low purine foods, no alchol and smaller portions.  I have also be excersising a lot.  My firends & family have all been commenting on how much I've changed.

But I'm still getting gout attacks and somewhat worringly, today I found out that my uric acid levels have rissen to 8,9mg/dL, after all the lifestyle changes I've made how could they rise so much?

Could something else be causing my high uric acid levels?

The doctor also did a blood test to check how my kidneys are functioning and it came back normal.

The doctor put me on a course of Allopurinol to dissolve the uric acid in my blood for 6weeks and take it from there.

I'm wondering if my situation is normal or if anything else could be causing my goute attacks rather than diet and lifestyle?

    It seems, no matter what the chart says, your body is the only true indicator of what is going to cause a gout attack.

      Lose 10% of body weight and the level of blood urate will fall by 8.5%. That not only has loads of other benefits but also reduces purines more than you can ever do by changing your purine consumption. Most men with gout (and gout is predominantly a male affliction), could lose 10% without fear of falling down the drains. Losing weight ain't easy though.

      It aint easy if you have joint paint or damage... swimming pool time...

      Agreed, but If treated early there shouldn't be any joint damage. I agree though once you have serious damage to joints some exercise is impossible. *Most*people can swim or bicycle though I think.

      I wish I could lose another 10%, doc says I'm way below my bmi. Still, when I got my second attack I was only 128 pds, and that was a bit heavy from my usual weight of 110. So, this is why I'm saying that your body is the only one that's going to make that decision on what foods it can process or not. I've eaten sardines my whole life and never got a gout attack, now that I read that sardines cause gout I'm afraid to eat them, go figure.
