hello fellow hippies

had a phone call this morning to confirm operation is deffinatly going ahead. There will be me and two others having there hips done next week on a 15 bed ward. The other two will be first timers so at least I can put there worries to rest I am still scared but that is natural for me because I don't do needles.

At at least I can keep you all posted from my iPad now I can get on here with it. They are giving me a room on my own because the other two paitents are men. The ward is a mixed ward but it was the last time I was there in April.

I really cant wait to be off all these meds and just have pain I can deal with. This has been a heck of a journey and a long ride to the end. The light at the end of the tunnel at last is shining bright.

I will have to stay in hospital for at least a week because of what went wrong the first time. ( nothing to do with the op )

so I know I can count on my hippie friends to keep my spirits up.

If if all goes well again like last time I should be sitting in the chair by my bed by Dinnertime I hate laying in bed being in so much pain and having to lay here day in and day out has done my head in.

My my surgeon has sorted out all the same people on his team even the anethatist so at least I know them all

any way woo hoo not long now 😊👍

      Hi alice

Thanks I would love a beer or some wine but I can't. ☹

not really nervous I have been through it once already back in April. I am always scared when I stay in hospital. I have a really bad needle phobia and I have had some really bad experiences in the past.

I know now I will be fine because I have exactly the same people doing my op. But I will always be scared.

I was so scared too....I susoect we all are/were....phobias are at last being taken seriously and not just a drama qween/king thing.  I havea phobia so bad of sickness mine or anyone else and that worried me more thab the op ..my surgeon didn't pooh pooh me and gave me anti sickness meds every four hours for first few days.  Do the medics know you have a needle phobia?  How did you mnaage wit h the injections for a month when you were discharged last time or didn't you have them...seems not all of us have them.

You will be in mine and lots on this sites thoughts too.

I still get some nurses say oh just get on with it and grow up. I usually reply to them would you say that to some one with depression or someone with cancer that usually shuts them up. I did leave a rather large rubber spider on one ward when I left there was a loud scream as I opened the door to leave the ward I went back and it was the nurse who had told me to get over it. I said have you a phobia of spiders. She said yes I said well grow up and get ver it then she went bright red

I have acid reflux that makes me sick when they have to put the tube down my throte. I have to take meds befor as well as anti sick pills too so I know what you mean with that.

Yes  I am having exactly the same team to do my right hip as I had in April to do my left hip all the way down to the same anethatist so  yes they are very aware of my problem. I didn't have the injections I was put o aspirin.

I later found i was I was allergic to heparin any way so it is lucky they didn't put me on it.

I am am not looking forward to 6 weeks with the TED stockings again  but I  will cremate them in the garden again just like last time cheesygrin

I have needle phobia as many do, when i explained my aneathatist was so kind, put cream on the back of my hand, didnt make me feel silly or anything, they were all brilliant. If you talk and explain they will help as much as possible with your fears.
