On thyroid medication for years but possibly never needed/ how long do side effects last once off medication

Has anyone discovered that they never really needed to be on thyroid medication at all? My doctor and I have decided to see if I really need to be on medication or not and I first lowered my dose over time and now have been off all thyroid medication for right at 2 weeks after being on meds for 9ish years. She's been saying since I started seeing her (but after I was already on thyroid meds) that she wasn't sure I really needed to be on them and I was too stubborn to listen and had all the symptoms. The one and only time my numbers were in range to be medicated (at 7.94) was when I was on high dose steroids after having my first hip replacement back in 2012. I was on natural dessicated for years then put on synthroid (where major issues started) but if not needed my issues could be years of being medicated when I didn't need to be too. Looking to see if anyone else has been in a similar situation that I could talk with one on one. (Also, my Hashimoto's diagnosis came with having to constantly change my medication dose and not from true antibody numbers which were too low for diagnosis that way. )

I feel at times I shouldn't be on them to be honest, which is why I decided to find a forum. I know the doctors would tell me off as I am on 125mcg but I have taken it upon myself to start reducing this to 100mcg a day and see if I can reduce further. I can afford not to gain anymore weight though so I am really hoping I am not doing the wrong thing but I know that since starting levo in 2012 everything just seemed to slowly go down hill and all the doctors every said was "your bloods are find now" as the like to satisfy the lab readings. I have often wondered about seeing a specialist.

Have you stopped yours altogether now? If so, how are you feeling? Any symptoms or side effects?
