I'm so sorry to hear that you're struggling right now, but please know that it does get better, hang in there okay. As with any anti-depressant medication it usually takes about 6-8 weeks to even begin to feel the effects, unfortunately it's not like taking an antibiotic where it works almost instantly. Also 50mg is quite a low dose, but as you are just starting out your doc won't want to put you on a higher dose, until they see if a lower dose works for you. I would suggest hanging it out for another month, to see if you see any benefits from the meds, if after that time you don't feel any benefits at all I would go back to your doctor, they may want to put you on a higher dose or try a different medication.

But please don't be discouraged that you haven't had relief yet, it doesn't mean it's not coming, it's just means that it might take a little longer, which is hard I know, but as someone who's been there, Sertraline has literally changed my life. It took time, longer then I would have liked, but it worked for me and I hope it will work for you.

hi there, give yourself time with any dosage and speak to your Doctor about how each dosage is affecting you.

i've been on sertraline for 4 months starting at 50mg and then slowly going onto 150mg . i definitely feel better; but its not the end all for me. i want this to be a temporary situation. Everyone of us has a different genetic make-up and that is important to consider when on anti-depressants.

be gentle with yourself and speak to your GP they will either recommend lower or higher doses according to your reactions to the drugs.

hope this wasn't too much of a cliche reply to your your concerns. Overall i will hopefully lower my dose in a few months as i want to get back to my natural chemical balance
