I've been using slumber pillow designed for hip surgery, its helpful to lie on side x

I haven't tried a pillow as it was just a straight 'no sleeping on your side for 6 weeks' from my consultant and physio. I would have given anything last time around to be able to sleep on my side but even when I was given the go ahead I couldn't do it. Sleeping on my back is much easier thus time around. Maybe it's because I got used to it last time.

It's much easier when you get down to 1 crutch. Well done for your fab recovery. Keep up the good work 😀

I'm 6 weeks post hippie on tues, found it more difficult this time to sleep on back than last time. Only just started using pillow for last week and now only trying operated hip . Starting to drive this week, as told restrictions are for 6 weeks so stuck to them, as I did last time. Glad to be getting back to normal again xx

Yeah! Rachael! Your getting thru this and over the difficult part. Diving is a big deal and your moving foreward.

Many good days ahead...until life becomes rich and full of happiness knowing you have mobility back again!

      Peace & healing.

      Hello Ali,

For my first had posterior THR. I had to sleep on my back with a special triangle or A frame style pillow between my legs for 6 weeks. This was to be sure the bone grew over the components a the correct angle. Also two screws and to hold in place as I was very active in my 40's.

Since then I have had the other hip done anterior which took longer for recovery no pillow had many set backs. Then had a revision done on the second one doing very well now. It took a couple of years to be back to normal and bending is still a issue.

I am  so grateful for the THR option. It's great to maintain mobility!

Very glad to hear you are doing so well and very encouraging to so many hippies!

      Hi Sue,

i can understand your fears. I think it's normal. Above all its a chance to move on from the constant pain and back to enjoying the things you liked to do . After 6 weeks you will be glad you did THR. It's never good to wait to long as the surgeon needs good bone for the components and joint replacement. The better shape you are in now the faster you will get thru THR.

Keeps all is hippies posted! biggrin
