one eye squint to light and bright colours

I started sufering from vertigo swaying variety, not spinning, in August. I undertook intensive vestibular exercises and eventually they helped and mostly i feel my balance has returned. Yipeee!! (happy to tell anyone about the exercises if your interested.) Sometimes i found my eye squinting badly and sometimes it did not want to open at all particularlly at bright lights. One of my pupils is usually alot larger and is slower to react to light. My balance has much improved  but my eye is still odd and i am unable to open it if there is bright lights. Has anyone else had any similar symptoms, did it just go back to normal on its own. I had an occy health referal and they seemed familar with this symptom after an inner ear damage condition and told me to wear sunglasses. wondered if anyone else had similar experiences?

my dizziness started in june and luckily by around september I started finally feeling normal again. like you I did a lot of vestibular exercises. when my dizziness first began light bothered me so badly, while I was at the hospital I wore sunglasses and had the nurse turn off the lights in my room. even by the end of summer when my dizziness was improving it still felt like light bothered me and oddly enough it felt like I wasn't as dizzy in a dark room. I mentioned that light bothers me when I seen the ENT but he never really said anything about it. I have noticed now on even slightly sunny days I have to wear sunglasses where as before I rarely wore them.

Hi, yes I have had the eye 'thing' for a long time now. (Had the vertigo swaying like you for. Over 4 years!).  Very sensitive to. BRight lights, even when switching off lamps for eg, I close my eyes. Don,t use overhead light if I can help it (only use whe.n I can,t find something!).  Also I notice that in the evening when I am tired when standing up and looking down in particular for eg, ie doing dishes, I close my eyes here and here to alleviate things!! my problem is my eyes seem to make the balance thing worse, although I know they Re not he cause. Like you had the eye exam by Opthamolgist and all is well.  also often fee I need to squint or shut them for. Few secs to 're-set'.

hi i can really relate to the reset. My eye sight is usually great but while i have had vertigo and recoverying from vertigo some time i look and i can not make anything out i blink and blink thinking they are misty but not improvement then a few minutes later fine. have you had eye squint for 4 years?

It,doesn,t affect my actual sight, nothing like misting or anything like that.  I think/feel it is morelike my eyes are tired and also the vestibular stuff isn t in sync so much, especially if I am tired which can come from the previous day if I,ve had a busy time (ie shopping, doing housework etc), sort of a knock on effect that has a delayed reaction.  But it is always later in the evening, so I can only work out that things just don,t work so well when The body is exhausted for whatever reason. Even if I am sick with something else that taxes the body, then It will b more prevalent then too.  I am going to raise all this on Thursday at my first (for this particular hospital, that is ) Physio appointment, although they aren,t drs and will be more looking at which exercises to,give me, which I am Determined to make sure they don,t give the back and forth, up anddown ones I,ve had before from other physics thT was a waste of time for me!

I found somewhere where it’s an open space and  looked quickly left and right focusing on something at each side repeating this several times as you walk ahead. It made me  feel worse and sick but it helped eventually. As I was  walking I set myself challenges like you might of done when you were little don’t walk on cracks or this time of year try to not walk on leaves. It’s challenging your balance. Try to make sure you walk with someone so that if you need them to hold onto they are there, I found wearing wide flat boots helped as my feet were really flat and toes could spread out for maximum balance. Then I tried to walk along lines, on car parks. Take a large umbrella so you can have it to feel more confident. It is hard and horrible and results slow but if you try to go out 2 or 3 times a day. It helped me the consultant was adamant there is no other treatment but obviously it depends on the cause of your vertigo. If you haven’t seen an ent consultant I would ask your Gp to refer you.

Check on VEDA website, they have numerous exercises for VN and labrynthitis.  Just keep them measure when you do them   Maybe 10 minutes total and choose only two or three.  Is your balance off or just the heady feeling?

My balance is off too. Like I was walking down the sidewalk and I felt like I was tipping sideways and the ground felt like it was moving.
