One sided neck lymph nodes enlarged-thoughts?

Posted , 4 users are following.

hi all, i'm new here.

my only symptom to begin with were one sided lymph nodes being enlarged in the neck. its been 3 weeks that i noticed them. my EBV test is positive for past infection which doctor says could be recent past or long ago. I got biopsy done and waiting for results. Just started having some chills/hot flash kind of feeling. Anyone else had these? I am in my early 40s.

    Hi Patty,

So sorry to hear you have been going through such a tough time lately. When I went through mono I had one enlarged and painful gland in particular on one side of my neck that persisted throughout, it certainly can be a very common thing with mono. I can only imagine it must be so frustrating and hard when not got a firm diagnosis.

Hoping so much that the biopsy brings good news and can put your mind at rest. The symptoms of the hot flash / low grade fever certainly fit in with mono too, and often many people don't get a firm diagnosis because it only shows positive for a window of a few weeks at the start of the illness, and the rest of the time like you say often just shows as a past infection for EBV.

Hang in there Patty, hoping and praying for your recovery - this truly is an awful virus but if it is mono, please know and be assured that with time you will get through it and back to full health, truly you will.

Thank you so much for your response Craig. I hope this is mono as the anxiety is killing me. I am in my 40s and have kids who are young and cant imagine putting my family through, if the biopsy results arent good. Thank you for your support.
