One swollen tonsil for 7 months and getting worse

I have been experiencing one swollen tonsil with a circle of puss on it for the last 7 months and it has slowly been getting bigger. I've been on 3 different antibiotics and a course of anti inflammatory medication all of which has done nothing to help. I went to a ENT specialist who had no idea what it is and suggested i just get my tonsils taken out but i cant afford it and there is now a lump in my throat where i presume my lymph node is and is just getting quite painful. Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated!
