One week post op.v

time flies, well except at night. I cannot sleep which is unusual for me, I think it may be the medication I take. The stairs are getting easier to climb and I went out for a short walk this morning, just a few slow steps on my crutches. I am watching golf instead of playing, but at least I am not in pain. My leg is swollen and my ankle does throb at night, all par for the course I think. Tony

    Hi Tony

Glad the op is over and you are starting your recovery. Sounds as if you are doing well. Still very early days and sleeping seems to be a problem for most hippies (especially as you can only sleep on your back for the first few weeks).  The swelling is normal after the op and will go down over the next few weeks.

If you need something to help you sleep at night you could continue to watch golf on TV ha ha 😁!

Morning sue, low blood pressure is quite common so dont worry. Usually due to after effects of anaesthetic and pain meds. Just take and dont try to get without a nurse to help you. Rest and plenty of fluids.

      Enjoy your breakfast!

Good for you Sue, Glad it all went ok.

I was awake for mine - fully awake, with no sedation at all - fascinating hearing the various goings on - A 'plop' noise and the surgeon telling someone that 'that is it dislocated now', then the power tools and hammering !  Not for everyone I know, but my father was a butcher, so I was used to that sort of thing.

I too get the 'toothake' in the bum, and lots of lovely young girls stroking me (ok, pressing the dressings onto the scar).

Good luck with your new bionic hips everyone.

I used to get good days, and bad days before the operation - so I suppose it's the same now.

Be positive, things are getting better, sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly.

Good to hear that because when im having a good day I tell myself maybe I dont need the op? Then I go for a walk or mow my lawns and I am in agony,  often awake all night in terrible pain!! I go in to morrow morning for my THR,  im scared but resigned. I will be brave regardless ! lol
