One Year Anniversary for broken ankle

Posted , 4 users are following.

It's one year ago today that I missed last two carpeted steps in my house

Results were broken unstable ankle requiring surgery, screws and stabilizing screw

It was a very long summer last year but I'm pretty much back to normal one year later. It was a long road back!

Stay well everyone!!!

I am seven months post ORIF surgery with a plate and 4 screws. Thing is, I can walk "normally" as far as people can tell, but it doesn't feel normal to me. It's not pain so much as discomfort and the feeling that things have not settled into place. Did you experience this? I am considering having the metal taken out as I feel that it may be the problem, but another surgery also sounds crazy. Thoughts? I think it is wonderful that you are back to normal! I hope I can get there too!

I think once you've experienced this injury its always in back of your mind. There are days that ankle is stiff. But once I'm up and moving it loosens up.

Then other days feels like nothing ever happened.

I've been thinking about getting screws removed. I did have stabilizing screw removed in January and it was quick and easy. I do have one screw that is visible on ankle bone and some days feels a little irritating .

      But who needs more surgery!!!

Im working and walking dogs at rescue where I volunteer so just keep moving on. For me it has been much more of a mental recovery than physical. I never really had pain, but the emotional journey was much more of a challenge

      All my best
