One year with FS-Not Going Away!

Anyone else here going on a year or more with a FS? I am beyond frustrated today.  Doing everything I can to get rid of this thing, but nothing is working.

I'm a type 2, I have even worked so hard at the gym, that I have gotten off the little bit of insulin I was on. Still on pills, but what can you do. Which is great, but I am just frustrated with this stupid shoulder and feeling sorry for myself today. Sorry.

So sorry! It's a very frustrating condition. My doctor told me 18 - 24 months. I think exercising and keeping it moving is very important but I think that keeps it from being more stiff etc. I don't think anything actually helps it get better except time and completing its cycle. That's pretty much what my doctor told me which also correlates with what I've read. It IS very frustrating!

Mary, I'm 19 months on one shoulder and 5 months in on the second shoulder. This can be a long process. I am a type 1 and was told the whole process is 2-5 years for us lucky diabetics. So sorry. I feel your pain and frustration!

I'm only at 4 months and my dr is ready to do mua and capsule release surgery! Is this not an option for you? I'm afraid to do it because it might just come right back! Mine is from a surgery though not diabetes! I think I will wait till 6 months before doing surgery?

I guess the scar tissue is more dense in us Diabetics so they would probably have to preform that awful surgery more than once..... Noooo way lady. lol

Yeah, you might want to wait on the surgery... Read some of the past posts on this forum. It helps some...but not many..

My ortho here in Canada won't do surgery on FS. Says its too hit or miss and everyone gets better eventually. Not what I wanted to hear, but I get it.

Just about a year for me too. I am so sick of it. I did mua almost three months ago and so I'm a lot better but still can't reach back (like to do a bra) sleep on my tummy and do a skirt zipper. I'm still in pt and started using the Dino sling about a month ago. Progress has been slow. I am sometimes ready to just give up and let it run its course. Also now doc is planning to cut off all pain meds despite my objections. By the way I got my fs out if no where. I guess we have to hang in there. This group has been a great source of support.

So Jull I might have asked you this already but if you had to do it again would you do the mua? Did they also do capsule release on you? Or would you just wait it out since it's taken over a year anyway?

I would definitely do mua again. Right away pain level went down and got back a lot of range of motion For example could put a shirt on over my head without getting those horrible pains. Also did pt after and by my daughter's wedding which was a month after I could dance and enjoy myself. They didn't do the c Release.

At the point I did mua I could not go on like that another moment. Could barely get myself dressed and undressed and was in horrible pain whenever I tried to move. So for me it was defin worth it

I had FS on my right shoulder Oct 2012, due to a team build bowling exercise. Oct 2015 after my 3rd op on shoulder, that included the works and loosing my job as I could not typ.  I am now in the same situation with my left shoulder. I had a C5 injection done last Wednesday. Immediate relief after the op, but by early evening the pain was present again. The next day the pain was vile. I can just about get the arm behind my back near the  lowest point of the hip but nofurther. The pain down the forearm is disgusting. I am reluctant to go the MUA and operation route as another 3 years of not working would cost me everything. I know there are millions of people who suffer this but when you go to your GP in agony it is the last thing you want to hear. Even exercising is excruciating. I wish there was a qucik fix.
