I'm 25years old,my back problem began around 2011 where my back went at work,My job is quite a manual job so heavy lifting very often involved.since then my back has went atleast once a year wher I am house bound for round about 4weeks then probably another 3weeks till I'm up and moving/driving around as normal.iv been to see a chiropractor, physio, back joint specialist, but nothing helped, eventually got an mri scan where I have been informed it's a bulging disc l5,and it will more than likely get worse as time goes on.this has been effecting my life for quite some time now,I'm a very active person & at this moment in time have not been able to do any exercise for 8weeks now which does effect how I feel mentally,i would be very greatful for any advice or guidance anyone has out ther for me,not quite sure where to go from here.thanks.

I have a bulging disc in T10-11(different area to you. Do you have any nerve related issues like numbness, pins & Needles etc.
You need to insist on a referral from your GP to either Orthopedic or Neurologist (depending on symptoms)ASAP-depending on your GP you will probably just have to be quite forceful rather than wait for them to get into action (As I found through my own experience).
I am currently awaiting surgery but have insisted on a second opinion. You may not need surgery but get it looked at by an expert (not a GP).
What part of UK are you in (different areas of excellence, I probably have researched them all & happy to share any knowledge).
Take care & keep in contact, talking helps (at least to know your not on your own).

I am no surgeon but your issue is more than muscular. First of all do not panic, that is not useful, decide to take control instead.
My advice is to seek a second opinion of another Orthopedic or Neurosurgen. A new ruling in NHS which took effect on 1st April this year allows you to seek treatment in any hospital in Uk of your choice (GPs will not tell you this as they dont like it)- The Walton centre Liverpool is a centre of excellence.
However next week commit to get appt. with GP and demand to see another "specialist' this is your right. Keep positive there are other routes for you perhaps than surgery but you first need a proper diagnosis.
keep in touch.
