Ongoing heart issues.. getting really bad

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hey guys,

I developed palpitations quite badly at a young age and after years of tests (24 hr tape, 48hr tape, 7 day tape, treadmill tests, echo, a million ecgs! Tilt table test) etc. They finally realised that I have a fast heartbeat, arrhythmia and something called pots syndrome. I have been suffering recently with the WORST palpitations and today ended up in a&e with servere indigestion. The ruled out heart attack (thank god) but im not so convinced.. tried taking heartbrun and indigestion tablets but not even touching  it. Never had this before and its getting worse.. im a 21 hr old female and otherwise healthy. What is wrong with me!!!

I wrote to my cardiologist just earlier this week to ask if my painful and sickening heartburn could be irritating the Vagus nerve contributing to my palpitations and my five month old cough.

    Rachael,

POTS is a benign condition (paroxysmal orthostatic tachycardic syndrome), my neice, who is now 39 has had it for a number of years.  Her physician told her it's

a non-life threatening condition, that, for the most part is made worse if the sufferer

becomes volume depleted.  In other words, she was told to always ensure that she

is hydrated, to consume water on a regular basis.  She doesn't take medicine, and

has reported no further issues to her physician.  It does cause a fast heart rate, but in no way should it be confused with an arrhythmia, because it is not an abnormal

rhythm, just a faster sinus rhythm.  Having an abnormal rhythm is never a good thing, but POTS does not equate to an abnormal rhythm, and it can be easily managed by not becoming dehydrated.  Get on with your live, and be thankful you're healthy.
