Ongoing knee problem

Hello everyone! I'm a newby so please be gentle smile

basically i I was playing g football around 3 months ago and I injured my left knee. I didn't do anything major, I just lifted my leg to control the football and I felt me knee go. I limped off the pitch and didn't feel it was necessary to visit hospital. Anyway for 2/3 weeks I limped and it gradually got better. I did attend the hospital but was told the waiting time was 3+ hours.

my knee got better, I wasn't limping and it wasn't sore however, I didn't feel that it was right and bending at the knees ad getting back up again was a struggle.

i visited my G.P who just told me to take anti Inflammatory tablets which I did for around a month or so however I didn't feel they worked.

i visited my G.P last week as my knee went again after climbing over a wall but it wasn't as bad as when u originally hurt it. I felt like my knee went again because when I first Injured it, it wasn't sorted properly as I was just told to take anti inflammatory tablets. My G.P looked at my knee and he said it was fine and the only issue was that there was more muscle on my other knee so I need to start exercising using my knees a lot bike riding In particular and knee exercises using gym equipment.

i have this a try the other day doing some legs raises at the gym and really struggled when using my left knee alone.

Anyway I'm lied in bed now and my knee feels bad again. I would t even consider excercising the knee at the moment as bending it to get in the car for example is uncomfortable.

what do I do?

ive been told if I go to a&e they won't help.

do I go to my G.P again and demand to be referee? My G.P told me of I go for physio all they will tell me to do is excercise using the knee.

I'm getting really fed up of ot now as it's really affecting me. I had to be off work as I couldn't even get in my car and drive plus I can't do every day things like walk the dog!

oh and I'm a 28 year old male 5'8 if needed. Thanks

Try to see a specialist. At this point that is the next step.

Hey sweety, you go back to the doctor and demand that he refer you to a specialist because all that complaining that youre doing sounds like it should be further looked at.  You dont let anyone discourage you from checking your body out further to see if something really wrong could be going on.  You need an MRI done and if that doesnt work you ask for an MRI with die to see if there is any fracture because xrays cannot tell you everything and this doctor seems to not understand that you are suffering. If I were you;  I wouldnt be doing any strenuous exercise.  You need to see a specialist first and then they will send you somewhere for therapy and give the correct type of exercise so you dont make things worse.  Good luck Mr. 5'8 and fresh 28.  You got a lot more years to walk with them knees so go get it checked out.  Youre still young and got a lot to do.  Good luck.  You tell him what you need or go to the hospital and see if they can help.

As a young a fit guy your joints and muscles should be in good working order. Don't know why your GP said all the physio will do is give you exercises. Because by the sounds of it, that is exactly what you need. A physio will be able to assess the best way to get your knee back into shape! They will be able to devise an exercise routine for you to get your knee back into shape. Rest and meds can only do so much for this type of injury. Unless there is a torn ligament or muscle, gentle strengthening exercises are the way forward.

I'd go to another GP and get a referral from them instead.
