ongoing tingling, pins and needles and jerks

Hello

Since 1.5 year i've been experiencing neurological problems

What started with pricks ("pins and needles) at my inner right thigh, has gone further to a tingling right foot.  A couple of months later, exactly the same symptoms occured on my left side.

What bothers me even more, is the muscle jerks i experience in my fingers, hands and arms (initially only at night, but now also during the day).  I also have pain in my neck (that i "crack" multiple times a day).  Another annoying symptom is the jerks in my tongue.

I've seen multiple neurologists, have had 3 MRI of neck and head.  Electrical tests, blood tests, all came back negative.

Meanwhile, my complaints become more severe and progress with new symptoms.  I am not anxious, i just want to get rid of these symptoms.

Treatments that i tried were gabapentin, amitryptilin and pregabalin. Nothing helps...

Google Linus Paling Institue at Univ. of Oregen.  They have done significant research on perifheral neuropathy.  One study has shown that R alpha lipotic acid

twice daily has helped many patients in study.

I have been using for about 4 wks. and it has stopped the progression.  I don't believe it will reverse the nerve damage, though studies claim/have shown that it will.  R alpha lipotic acid is "over the counter."

Hi Al35091, I've just started taking the alpha lipotic acid it's 100mg (should I be taking a higher dose)  and a vitamin B complex. I just hope it works.  I'll google Linus Paling Institute, thank you for that.

It's important that it's R alpha lipstick acid, taken twice daily.  It's effect is to lower blood glucose which if high is detrimental to small nerve fibers.

I have progressive peripheral neuropathy. My symptoms started in hands then later both feet. 10 years later the progression sped up. I have a lot of nerve damage on both feet and legs. I take lyrica at 300mg duloxetine at 60mg and nucynta at 50mg. Have all your blood work and nerve studies completed. Even a second opinion by a neurologist would not be bad.
