I had surgery to repair an umbilical hernia, one month after I'd gotten it. I was told that they planned to use mesh, and do it open. When they had me on the table and knocked out, they chose to do the repair laproscopically and without mesh. I guess because it was so small. It's been four years without any problems. Maybe they'll make the call when they're actually doing the procedure. I didn't have any say in the matter. But good luck with yours.

I would do the laparoscopic over open surgery any day. 3 tiny incisions and it's done. If your hernia is small, like mine was, it should heal easily with sutures but be sure they are not the plastic sutures which can cause issues with people too and still give off toxins that harm your body. The only thing you have to be careful of is lifting or doing strenuous things before it's completely healed. Using the suture method a hernia can break out if you don't tend to it properly. I am going in to have my umbilical mesh removed due to serious allergic reactions from the mesh and my doctor is supposed to suture my hernia up too. I know that I have to be very very careful of everything I do as I definitely don't want to have another hernia surgery anytime soon. Good luck on your repair and you are very smart to tell him no mesh BEFORE he operates! I would give anything had I done some research before my procedure but I only had a day after diagnosis before he did the surgery. Not enough time. Take care!

yea.... cut out all high fructose corn syrup and other swwteners and after 12 days see if inflammation is reduced by 50%. I will tell you why. Look up Small intestine bacteria overgrowth.

You can then slowly narrow things down. And show what is causing what. One will back up the other. Trying to be safe in what I say. I am not even sure how to communicate now under this scrutiny.
