Open wound after surgery

Hi, I had surgery on my absess about 3 weeks ago. I just had a look and noticed the wound is still open. Is this normal? I had disovable stitches put in, its gone but there is still the open wound. What should I do?

    Hi Kirsty I don't this sounds good and you need to get this checked out and be careful as open wounds can be prone to infection

    Are you talking about a marsupilisation?

    Then yes that's what the do, they basically create a new opening for the gland to drain from, I assume in time it gets smaller

    I had mine done 5 weeks ago and still quite obvious hole and still leaking fluid

    I had a marsipulization 7 weeks ago. The open wound is completely normal. I too panicked when I had a look and saw a huge open wound, keep in mind that it should close up in a week but the scar from the incision remains. I cried to my husband because I felt "botched" however when I tried showing him he couldn't see it. So be aware that the incision leaves a deep scar but no one else will even know its there except for you! Praying for your healing sister smile
