Operation wait

Hi everyone Im new to this forum and was hoping you guys could offer some help and advice? I'm due to have my gallbladder removed within the next 8 weeks. Ive bin in constant pain since the ultrasound and my GP thinks the stones have moved. As the stones were over 3mm she made my appt priority and I saw the consultant on Thursday. He says I should be done and dusted within 8 weeks, but thats where my problem lies. I am due to go on holiday 7 weeks next Friday. The Consultant says should be done by then and he will put me down for a cancellation. Can I please ask if you guys thinks this is viable and am I likely to get one?

Thanks in advance

Hi your consultant seems confident that you should get one I would be more concerned would you be well enough to go on holiday if I was you.

Hopefully I should be fine. Ill Just rest and relax, Consultant sais he's even had patients go on holiday the following day but I definately wouldnt do that. The nurse that did my premed says would need minimum 2 weeks recoup before going on hols so fingers crossed

I've read that you can't fly till 4 weeks after your operation.

Think it was on the nhs site , I've read so many sites before my op but I will try and find it for you tomorrow. I know I read it as I'm going on hols in June and was worried about my op being postponed and having to have enough time to get well before flying. It was the same when I had my hysterectomy and I wasn't cut open for that I had a vaginal hysterectomy and bladder repair ok on the outside , hundreds of stitches inside  couldn't fly for four weeks then either.

Thanks Gill appreciate your help am soooo stressed about the whole thing in constant pain really need it out just don't know where to turn to. Am going to ring the clinic clerk tomorrow to check on a cancellation and hopefully get an idea of an operation date if I have to cancel my holiday I would be gutted but there no way I could go and risk a flare up when am away.

Well as I said I've read so many sites I could including  nhs over the last few months that I can't find that one will keep looking though but if you type in flying after gallbladder removal it will bring some answers up and they all give different views on it ranging from 2-3 days to two weeks. But I know I read four weeks because as I said I have booked a holiday and had to be sure , also seems if you have laparoscopic it's sooner than the big op. Hope this helps you and you get a cancellation but please to be sure ask your doctor or can you re book your holiday transfer it maybe ??

I am two weeks today post op and only felt better since yesterday . Bloating . Pain . Extreme fatigue -I don't think I could have faced the travelling on holiday . Remember complications do happen so make sure insurance covers you .
