Opinion on Hand/Wrist/Arm pain

Hi, I need opinions on what my next step should be here are the facts.
1. fell at work went for x-rays doctor said I had a wrist fracture.
2. went to hand specialist he said no fracture Arthritic Episode
3. Did MRI to check for other problems besides fracture causing pain.
4. Doctor sent me for EMG Nerve conduction study to rule out Carpel Tunnel Syndrome.
5. Ruled out Carpel Tunnel Syndrome.
6. Doctor now says that I have Cubital Tunnel Syndrome and probably need surgery to repair the nerve. Hasn't said anymore about my hand which feels like it's been slammed in a door over and over.
7. Doctor has me on Neurontin and to come back to him after I go for second opinion Nov 9th. He wants to see what other doctor thinks about symptoms.
My question is this, Should I go to first doctor that said I had a fracture and get them to go over x-rays with me so I can see what they say about the other symptoms I'm having now since I never felt like this was Arthritis related and don't know if untreated fracture could cause the problems that I am having now. I don't know what to think or do . Please help ...

devsmom,
Yes, it is very confusing to be told something different every time I go see this doctor and it's like he's totally dismissing my hand still giving me problems and hurting like it does. I was unsure about what I can and can't do since this is a workers comp case. I think if I go back to the first doctor and let them know what all has been going on maybe they can help me understand just exactly what could happen if the problem with my hand isn't fixed. I don't think this thing with my arm is just coincidental like the doctor said and I told him that I was having no problems with my arm until the fall furthermore he never says he see's a fracture but I showed my x-rays to 2 doctors that are my friends and they both saw a fracture so I have been so confused at what exactly I can do, all I knew to do was to get a second opinion and I have a copy of first x-ray taken after the fall, one day after. As far as copies of everything from Hand Specailist I don't know if I can manage to get them or not. Maybe best thing to do there is to go to the office of second opinion doc and sign release so he can have the medical records there whenever I go, I'm just praying for someone to cancel so I can go sooner than what I'm scheduled to go. Thank you so much every word of advice helps me cope with what's going on and I appreciate it.

lllerob,
Thank you for your story sounds like you were in misery, I know what that's all about especially when you in for pain in one area and the first set of doctors tell you that you have fracture and they refer you to Hand Specialist but he never see's what first doctors see, then you go from one diagnosis to another, that's why I finally had a couple of my friends that are doctors look at first x-ray and they saw the fracture and I wonder why the specialist couldn't that's what I never got. So what was the first thing you went in for treatment for your elbow? I went in because of fracture of Intra-Articular Distal Radius Fracture but hand specialist accompanied that with Basil Joint Arthritis and had thumb immobilized and told me no pinching or gripping with the thumb but I used the rest of my hand then it went from that to thinking I had carpel tunnel syndrome, then when the pain went up my arm he said cubital tunnel syndrome, I've got to the point that I don't know what he's talking about or see's for that matter and I wish I could just have my pick of doctors but with it being a workers compensation injury I have to do what they say unless I want to fork out the money outta pocket without using my insurance because if I try to use my insurance for it then they will kick it out because it's a workers comp case. I surely don't have the money to pay outta pocket for anything or I would've already picked my own doctor, because you see I already know that I had Osteoarthritis in my left thumb but the pain I was feeling just didn't feel like arthritis pain it felt different and I have broken my arm before on my left but it was the two bigger bones and that was many years ago when I was a child but this was a scaphoid fracture because I had one of my doctor friends show me on x-ray exactly where it was and after looking at it you can see that it was a hairline fracture about the waist of the scaphoid bone and why the specialst couldn't see it I don't have a clue, but I tried to change doctors after the first or second time I saw him and they said that I couldn't change doctors right then so I didn't say anything else and after a week or so I got an email saying that I could have my second opinion but by that time I just have to wait longer because from what I hear this new doctor is brilliant and will be able to fix what is wrong with me and what makes it worse is that it's not just my hand anymore it's my whole arm and as went into my shoulder and neck so I don't know what is making it do what it's doing but the only one opinion I have is to go through the ER because that's the only way my regular medical insurance will pay for it. I'm just screwed either which way you go. All the extra things started happening to me after the doctor gave me a Cortisone Injection, it was like he hit something that he shouldn't and it has progressively gotten worse ever since.
What was your initial injury ? was that the reason that you went into a coma ? I would like to know because all the knowledge I have could better my situation somehow maybe. I wish you all the best in your endeavors and I'm glad that you found a doctor to take care of the problem's that you were having and I hope things only gets better for you. God Bless You and thanks for your story...

My advice is to go to a completely different doctor. If this is not possible go into a free 'ask a doctor' site. You need an opinion that comes from a completely new page, you need to be treated for something!
