Optician says new advice is not to use baby shampoo

My optician said the latest advice for blepharitis is not to use baby shampoo as although it helps with removing debris from the lashline, it dries out the healthy tears too much. Has anyone else heard this?

I'm relieved to hear it, I hated using the shampoo, only did it a few times. I just use Q-tips soaked in hot water and that works great.

The optician said to use warm water and a flannel. I use Blephasol liquid on cotton wool first thing in the morning and use a gel pack that can be used in the freezer or microwave for a warm compress. Heat it in the microwave, then wrap it in a wet flannel and rest on the eyes for 10 minutes. More hygienic than a wheat bag and more efficient than a hot flannel on its own.

Hi Have heard this before about baby shampoo and although I still use it have been wondering if it might betoo strong and whether I should use just water. I heard that bicarbonate of soda is something you can try as

well it is on the leaflet that I got from the eye hospital. To blinks where did you get the gel pack from. I have

just purchased a MGD flaxseed bag but not sure if I like it. It does not seem to stay warm for more thatn 5

minutes also I find the dry heat makes my eyelids sensitive and harder to massage (I usually massage with

wet finger which I find better. Your idea of the gel pack in the microwave then wrapped in a wet flannal

seems a good idea, best of both worlds if you know what I mean. I have also starting using blephasol liquid

    not sure about it yet.
