Oral Sex

I have been diagnoised with Herpes Virus 2. I changed doctors and did my yearly blood work up. I was devastated to find out that have been exposed my number was very low. I have never had a break out. I never knew that when I ask for a full blood work...most doctors dont test for Herpes unless you ask for it. She told me not to worry about it that my number is so low that I don't need to take a daily dose for a year. MY question is how does this affect my sex life. Oral sex is foreplay for me but am I putting my partner in jeopardy. He loves me and doesn't care but I am concerned about him performing to pleasure me and putting himself in jeopardy.

I was diagnosed in august and started daily meds in October due to multiple outbreaks in that short if a time.. i would definitely suggest daily antivirals to protect him.. i thought this was the end of my sex life also.. oral is a big thing for me also i make sure that if i have any signs such as tingling, burning , itching that there is no kind of sexual contact.

Was the test IgG and what was your score? How did you score for HSV1? Usually they're done at the same time.

What does your score even mean ? Does it mean how long you've had it

Because if you've never had any symptoms and your HerpeSelect IgG score for HSV2 is very low, especially with pre-existing HSV1, there's a chance it could be false. The University of Washington western blot is the only way to get a more definitive answer, but it is not cheap.

But is it still possible to spread the virus with a number low?

If it is a true positive, then yes. The number only reflects antibody levels and is of limited use.

Is there a way to find out who got the virus first when you find out 3 months later

No, the window for that is pretty tight, maybe only a month. At 3 months, most people will have more or less reached full antibody production, so there is little meaningful distinction.
