Oral thrush and sore tongue

Posted , 6 users are following.

Along with other delightful Meno symptoms I have over the last 3 months been getting repeated bouts of oral thrush with a very sore tongue. It makes eating difficult and is miserable.

I had bloodtests that showed very low iron so have been on iron tablets for 2 months and I was tested for diabetes about a year ago and that was normal.

Im thinking if my iron levels are improving and Ive got no underlying health issue why am I still getting these problems, Im wondering if its a menopause issue due to lowering hormones.

Im 54.

Anyone got any thoughts ?

Thanks

If you can find the answer I'm all ears.. I've been dealing what the doc said was thrush for over a year. I've been on 3 different meds and nothing has worked. Had a complete oral check up and the peridontist said it's not thrush and no sign of oral cancer. I've read up on burning mouth syndrome and menopause and self diagnosed myself since no one can give me an answer. I've read Vit B helps but I've not tried it yet. I bought a copper tongue scraper and changed toothpaste to a brand that had baking soda in it and also rinse with baking soda and water. It seems to help some. When mine is really bad I chew gum, not sure if it helps or just takes my mind off of it.

I hope you can get some answers and relief! Sorry I wasn't any help, but you're not alone!

Me too exact same oral thrush 3 times within 2-3 months (never had it before),

The nurse did tell me that if you wear dentures the thrush can live on them and you need to soak them thoroughly in there cleaning solution, I think maybe that's how I had it 3 times,

But I'm also now having tests back saying high levels of yeast /bacteria infection, they give me thrush tablets but they obviously don't do anything because the tests come back with that everytime it's annoying

Hi - I have had this as well the last couple of months. Its mostly my tongue, but it itches and burns. My GP thought it might be oral thrush on the phone and prescribed treatment, but it didn't help. I have had a load of blood tests and the only thing that has come back abnormal is low iron. I am now wondering if this is burning mouth syndrome.
