Oregano

Hi everyone, I have ic, have been diagnosed last year. Just a quick question. Has anybody have a problem with oregano. I had some on my dinner today and it just put me in a flare. This is weird because it's on a ok list for people with ic. I was just wondering. I know this isn't a major problem but was curious. Thank you.

Hi Brenda.no I’ve never had a problem with oregano or any other herbs. As you say, it’s not a known offender!  What did you have it with? Im just wondering what else you ate that might be more likely to be the culprit!

Hi Shirley, thanks for replying. I had potatoes, green peppers cooked really good, roast, mushrooms. It's a mystery to me, but this ic is a strange thing. One day you can eat a certain thing the next it's a no no. 😇

It is hard to fathom - and it’s not just food that causes flares - stress is a big factor too.  I tend to stick to red peppers.  It’s a huge learning process I’m afraid. Sometimes I can have decaf coffee and other times it sets things off within hours! Also dehydration is to be avoided at all cost (not easy either) and I don’t know if you have bowel probs too but I have IBS and my urologist said that will also cause flares when it plays up (like now!) as the nerves that supply the bowels and the bladder are all ‘tied up together’ honestly you’ve got to laugh sometimes or you’d be permanently in tears! Just take it one day at a time - things can change that quick and do lots of research on reliable, knowledgeable sites only or you’ll implode!

Thank you Shirley for your advice. I've had this for little over a year and I still learn something new every day. Just when you think you have it down pat , it shows its ugly face again. Again thank you.
