Orif on left ankle complications

Posted , 3 users are following.

I broke my ankle in mid March 8weeks later the bone did not heal so i ended up having an orif surgery may2. I'm still non weight bearing. I feel in the cam boot the other day and now my foot is swollen and throbbing. Went to er they say it could be sprained. Anyone else have complications like this. I'm supposed to start partial weight bearing a week from Monday. I'm afraid this is going to set me back.

God I hate those boots. Did you have a levelling shoe on good foot. Most falls are from uneven gait. Get on to google look at "even up shoe" cheap and can save so much pain and secondary injuries. If we walk bent can deform ankle strain back hips knees. I'm definatly going to have a go at the boot suppliers for not telling people about this. And surgeons should be on board with it. My dr after researching it will now recommend it to all boot users. I hope you stay safe and spread the word with level walking.

hi crystal....welcome to the world of broken ankles....lol  Im 12 weeks in and now Im told I can walk in shoes, which is hard as nothing fits. Very painful too so back on pain killers. Whats wrong with your ER if they are saying that you COULD of sprained it? Didnt they do xray? I would advise you to ice and elevate as much as poss. Do you have a appt on that Monday? Im sure all will be fine. It just we tend to think every NEW pain niggle means something is wrong.  Good luck with your recovery.  sx
