I had my youngest child at 40 and my eldest at 25, not by choice but by nature as although I have 3 children I have actually had 7 pregnancies.
As for taking Orlistat when pregnant I think that it would be down to trying to maintain the correct nutrients during the pregnancy and the Orlistat may interfere with that

Are you sure the doctors reaction wasn't simply to do with the dangers on the baby whilst taking orlistat rather than your age? Doctors are supposed to be non judgemental so if the reaction was truely to do with your age, then either complain or simply don't take it to heart, its your life at the end of the day and you live it how you like
good luck :D

Hi, ive always been overweight and i was ok with my weight until 7 months the last ones i put on 3 stone. my dilema was do i try to loose weight then try for another baby then the doc asked if i wanted any more children when i told him yes he looked shocked and went on about my age and that i shouldnt be wanting children after 37/38, then he said i WAS NOT to get pregnant when i was on orlistat because i WOULD have to have a termination. to i really dont know what to do. i had a misscarage before i had my little one and that was bad enough but to have to terminate i think id go to pieces

It does not say anywhere it cannot be taken during pregnancy but I would say not as no studies have reported on any affects which doesn't mean they won't be any.
As for terminating a pregnancy I personally would terminate my relationship with this doctor and see another. He is obviously a first class arse, excuse my french, and has not bothered to read up on pregnancy, orlistat or women and is just making up stuff he feels is right.

I had my son at 34, my sister had her son at 37, my close friend had 2 daughters at age 42 and 44.
Now unless you are the woman in the paper that has had umpteen children and had everyone taken off her and i'm talking more than 10 babies??!!?? Though god knows why social services would take a baby that hasn't even left hospital with the mother yet?? oh that is a whole different ball game, but you need to complain.
Rant over.
Go have babies then worry about your weight.
I don't know whether or not I would take Orlistat whilst being pregnant? If we are recommended to take multi vitamins, it must be taking a little more than fat out of our systems.... I think you need to look into that a little more closely.
I hope you seek another medical opinion.
Good luck

Good luck[/quote:a015869175]HI I wouldnt take the orlistat if i did get preg but just wonderd if anyone else had been told that if they did get preg and on the tabs that they would HAVE TO have a termination. Ive read on web that there hasnt been any reserch so im confused as to why the doc sait id have to terminate. i talked to my hubby and he said if i did get preg id just stop taking the tabs and we would have the baby.
