Orlistat - no loss

Posted , 5 users are following.

I have been on Orlistat for 6 weeks now and I have not lost any weight at all.

Can this be because:

a) I am retaining water? and have swollen ankles every day

b) I am overweight and have swollen ankles

c) I am menopausal and weight gain is inevetable

c) My weekly takeaway curry for over 20 years has decided to stick around

Is anyone else getting nowhere with Orlistat. I am 52 and probably more sedentry than other people on the site. Maybe it only works on younger and more energetic people?

Can anyone help?

Thanks

I am a very lardy 49 year old and it is working for me.

Can you put your hand on your heart and say

    - I am eating 1200-1400 cals a day - weighed and added up properly

    - I am eating 25-30g of fat a day

    - I am eating no more than 15g of fat in any meal

    - I am walking/ Mr Motivatoring/ doing vigourous housework for 3 or 4 sweaty 30-40 minute sessions a week

If the answer is no, then try a couple of weeks of sticking to the rules like glue - come on, you can do it for just 14 measly days - and see it it works if you throw yourself into it.

    Keep us informed?

I am 58, have swollen ankles due to water retention and lead a very sedentary life, due to arthritis.

However, I have been taking Orlistat for just over 3 months and have lost almost 2 stone in that time.

I try to keep most of my meals very low-fat, probably under the 15 grams allowed.

I found at the start that writing EVERYTHING down that I ate and drank each day really helped me to focus.

My biggest sin before was cheese, but I buy mini Babybel and allow myself one at the end of each day (I have supper instead of breakfast) so I don't feel I'm missing out completely.

Stick at it, be honest with yourself as to what you are eating and I'm sure you'll get there.

    Good luck!

I'm 23 and on my second perscription... still to lose any weight! Was feeling really disheartened by it all so have had a week out to get my head back in the zone and am hitting it full force again from today... fingers crossed for some results this time round
