Hi I have osteoarthritis since 30 now 51 have lumber &cervical disc herniations, facet joint degeneration, spurs, nerve problems, waiting for 2 hip replacements they dont do here till 60 but on list anyway, waiting for both hands carpal tunnel surgery on list. cant have herniated discs removed as 4 need replacing in lumbar and with facet damage they cant replace, say 80% paraplegia if they operate, have spondylosis- all problems listed under this heading, spinal stenosis, ddd, scelerosis, bursitis, tendonitis.  carpal tunnel both hands all at moderate to severe. I take norspan patch 15ml/hr and duloxitine, since 50, before that nothing as tramadol etc would leave me like a looney! was taking lyrica and after a year suffered mdd so change to duloxitine which dosent work as good but i am clear headed and not as depressed. after starting meds i got diagnosed with diabetes 2 as well. my latest problem is after taking metformin i got so constipated with other meds causing this too that while trying to go loo after 6 hrs lay on bed sideways i got terrific instant pain and a feeling of a concrete block moving pushing out my lower back then horrific tail bone pain now for over a month, doc says nothing can be done for tailbone it will heal on its own "like when" anyone have this happen to them is ?

You need to take movacol on a dail basis to stop you getting constipated. Have you tried gabapentin for your pain relief.

Worth giving it a try. You just have to put up with some side effects,

ty for reply, I am having movacol as have too, and only eating fruit, yoghurt,as anything else and i seem to go back to terrible tailbone pain again. as for gabapentin my mum takes this for her nerve pain from hip op ballsup and finds it good so I might ask doc about me taking it.

Have you tried a tens unit?

yes I have, sadly it didnt help enough. I have also had injections in facet joints, hips, sacral joints, hands, which only worked in my hands for 2 months, and did nothing to stop spinal pain. I go into hosp very shortly for a stay, doc wants all specialists to get tog and decide what they can do for me so at the mo I am hopeful. I am cat 1 for carpal tunnel release on both hands too so waiting still patiently.

Any salfa drugs does that to me. Even when I had the worse kidney stone of my life, I refused a sulfa drug. My rheumatologist told me to take a softener regularly while on the salfa. I cried from the worse pain I EVER felt daily! Finally I had enough and had to go off. But... I would also suggest the same thing... Expecially with the back issues *Which I also have* it is NOT good to strain to much while going #2! If the softener doesn't work I would talk to the doc about something that does not affect you that way. I sure can relate. I really can.

ty Lisa, I am still suffering and they say its for good, just more deteriorating of spine, I go into hosp soon as they want to get all specialists tog to see what can be done for me, I now take stool softener and  no longer eat bread or meat, etc sticking to yoghurt, fruit, mashed vegies, chicken, fish etc to help. some days are harder than others as I keep up the good fight against my mdd, but I always know others suffer more than me.
