Osteoporosis and compression fractures in spine

Posted , 3 users are following.

I recently had an X-ray on my back as pain was still strong after 5 months and several visits to osteopaths.  X-ray showed osteoarthritis and compression fractures T10, T11,L1 and L4 - age of these uncertain.  Osteoarthritic changesare seen in the facet joints at all levels.  No other bony or joint abnormality is seen.  Since had a DEXA scan (formal results still awaited) but technician said was osteoporosis.

My GP prescribed Iboprofun 2 x 800 mg which did not agree with me as I am allergic to anti-inflammatories.  She does not know what else to prescribe.  Tried contacting my pain specialist (for an earlier problem) but have not been successful.  Any suggestions for pain relief, also allergic to codeine.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi, I was first given naproxen, everyone I know with arthritis has them but did not agree with me. Ask about them, they seem to work for a lot of people.x

Hi Angie - I already take gapapentin and imimpramine for complications following a surgery in 2003.  Cannot take amitrpyline, doesn't agree with me. Will add morphine slow release capsules and oramorph to my list ready for when I visit my GP once I receive my DEXA results.  I live in NZ (although I was born in England.  Even at seniors' rate it costs $37 per GP visit.  Thanks for your input.
