OSTEOPOROSIS AND OSTEOARTHRITIS

Hi
I've been diagnosed with osteoporosis {about a month ago}
I have Osteoarthrits and Kyposcoliosis. {had those for yeaars and had 2 hip replacements}
My problem is......what do I do about the osteoporosis.????
Exercises for osteoporosis is the opposite to osteoarthritis.....so things adviced for OP aren't adviced for OA or the other way around.
My physio ...I dont see him at the moment but its on a basis that "if you need me ring me" I tried that thinking I might get some advice.....he is off work with a broken leg and likely to be off for months LOL He will need plenty of physio afterwards.
I cant see another physio without a referral from my GP and that could take ages....Going on holiday next week.
Basically I can manage my OA and all the other things but the OP I dont quite know how to manage it ...things like what I can do and what I cant do whitout damaging anything.
Sorry about all this......if anyone has any ideas let me know please
Love
Eileen

The National Osteoporosis Society is an excellent organisation and it would be worth contacting them. I did so a few months ago and received lots of advice from the nurses and they sent me free useful booklets with excercises and advice re diet etc. hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply......I havent actually contacted them but have gone on to their website.......A lot of things I found I cant do ar am not allowed to do because of the arthritis.....Walking....well I'm on crutches {6 months now} weeks afte I had a hip replacement I fractured my greater trochanter bone....doing an nHS exercise.....for a hip replacement.....they then discovered I have OP
I believe that jogging or running is good....but thats high impact and no good for arthritis....Swimming for arthritis....not for OP {doesn't do you any harm but doesnt do any good} LOL
Sorry for the moan....but if it was just OP I could cope but having both I find it difficult
Do you think ringing their helpline would make any difference?
Or did you go on to the forums?
Love

I telephoned them, the phones are staffed by Osteoporosis nurses and the one I spoke to was really helpful, spent ages talking me through things. I think in your case it would definitely be more useful to talk to someone.
