Other Conditions and General Health

I am about 85 yrs old diagnosed for early Glaucoma and early AMD in Oct, 2015. My eye sight was reasonably alright when my above problems were diagnosed and it is still almost the same with minor decrease possibly due to passage of that much time. Otherwise I still have reasonable over all health and do daily walk for about 25-30 mins. No BP and no diabetes.

I have been feeling very uncomfortable due to itching problem which earlier I had been having only in winters when I took bath with warm water. Since last winters starting about 8 months back, this problem not only further aggravated but still continues though with lesser intensity even after the winter season ended 3 months back despite using various moisturizers/ cream and anti allergic medicines etc. Skin Specialist tried his best but without any positive results. He felt that It is due decreased body fat due to old age.

I am using two eye drops for Glaucoma; Travatan once a day and Azopt twice a day. All Glaucoma eye drops have severe side effects. I thought it could be due to use of these eye drops. Earlier I was taking Saffron2020 for AMD which I left 2 months back.

Can I have the views of Senior Citizens who have been through this problem and how could they reduce/ rectify itching problem? Personally now I feel I have to live with this problem.

The eye drops you mention have no side effects. I am older than you and have been using them for years but if you do, your opthalmologist can change them until you find the right  ones. As for skin itch get a prescription for Ketoconozole.

Mr Lester, I have been doing daily walking exercise since I was in forties. It remained an intoxication till about 2 yrs back. Now intoxication aspect is gone yet I keep walking for 25-30 mins at a convenient pace as a compulsion so that legs remain in reasonable strength. However I have started thinking that while walking, my Femur may get broken though i keep ignoring this aspect and do my daily walk as usual.

Can I have your views/experience in this regard? I would also request other senior Citizens who can also give their views.

      Wishing you all the best.
