Other joint issues related to ankle fracture?

Hi, I had ORIF surgery on my ankle on the 29th May this year, had 6 weeks in a cast then 2/3 weeks in a boot. I think I'm making good progress, I am walking albeit with a limp but I'm in pain, not a massive amount but my joint is sore a lot of the time and it's getting me down. I think the main problem is I'm starting to have problems in other areas...the worst being my knee on the same leg as the fracture. A few times since my injury I have had a burning sensation very localised to small areas of that leg...first it was at the very top of the leg which lasted about three weeks then it was the second toe on that foot which lasted about 2 months and as soon as that eased I got it in the lower right side of my knee. Each time the pain was only activated by a certain movement e.g. on my toe it was only when I stretched it and in my knee only if I knelt on it. At all other times the area felt normal however my knee is now starting to hurt at other times too, walking and occasionally just stretching it I am aware of the pain. The pain is like a friction burn, very sore but no redness or swelling, the area always looks normal. Has anyone else had this with they're recovery. I will book a doctor's appointment but it will be weeks before I see one so just looking for advice. TIA

Hi
Is it your Inside ankle that is bothering you? I'm having pain and swelling there when I put weight on it and walk. I also walk with a limp. ORIF on June 11th. My PT says my hip and Knee are out if whack...hence the pain I have there too, because I'm not walking straight. He's doing all kinds of stretches on my thigh, as he says because that's tight, my ankle is having to do a lot of work. There are thigh stretches online, that we can do. Maybe that's why you are having pain too? I wish you the best. We will all get there.

When my knee started hurting I used a knee brace. Everything gets racked because you are walking lopsided and different. I had burning sensations in my foot during recovery not in my leg and not anymore, but reading other posts that seems to be common. Surgery for me was July 10. I'm walking with a slight limp and am able shop for a couple of hours or more. I have plantar fasciitis from the break so I bought a pair of sketchers sneaks with an arch I can feel and also a pair of Clarks shoes. If I'm on my feet for a while I switch shoes. I figure I'll sacrifice looks for "comfortable" shoes in hopes some day I can get back in my heels.
