other rash with shingles?

I was dx with shingles almost 2 weeks ago and go ton acyclovir right away. Blisters were on my chest in a very small area and have dried up now, but around the dried blisters I have an itchy red rash that goes fully across my chest from armpit to armpit,  up to my collar bone, and on each breast. What is this? Is this more shingles or did the rash grow? This rash doesn't have any blisters but itches bad. Even itches outside of the rash perimeter.

    It sounds as if the Herpes Zoster-Shingles continues to spread after the initial onset of the rash. Acyclovir is the least efficacious of the Antivirals.

    While shingles usually does not cross the midline, it sometimes does.

    Please see a physician straight away, today! If it is Shingles, and not a secondary infection, ask for a 10 day supply of Famciclovir 500 mg 3x daily. Tell them the virus is resistant to Acyclovir, and probably Valcyclovir, as it is based on Acyclovir.

    Famciclovir is not based on Acyclovir.

    Are you immunocompromised in any way? Do you have autoimmune diseases such as SLE, ITP, RA, Psoriasis, or Irritable Bowel Disease, or Cancer?

    It could also be a secondary bacterial infection caused by the viral infection. You need to be seen by a clinician, get it diagnosed, and treated!

    Exactly the same thing happened to me. Itchy rash on top of shingles healing. Lasted about 2 weeks, Doc said it’s not more shingles but an allergy to something. Put loads of different stuff on so no idea which one.  Stopped all topical and tablets. Took antihistamine and it gradually went.

    maybe due to healing skin being over sensitive

    I believe you have another bout of shingles!  It’s painful and the itch is awful!

    I have been going with this since February!  I have gotten mild bouts with a tiny blister that clears fast!  I will go again to the doctor to see if she gives me a second round of anti viral!

    There are people here suffering for years!  We have to eat the lysine diet and don’t eat nut nor chocolate because it triggers it!

    Have you decided to get the new vaccine?  I get scared to get it because I am very sensitive to most vaccines!
