Other ways to help with reduction in outbreaks

I've been trying to find out more info about the virus and ideas of treating it and have found these:

Eleutherococcus senticous - Siberian Ginseng: https://umm.edu/health/medical/altmed/herb/siberian-ginseng - University of Maryland Medical Centre.

A couple of other sites say that cranberry juice may help but the tests that have been done have only been done in the laboratory and not on people yet. The spice turmeric may also help. Easy things to try that don't have side effects if you don't take too much of them - everything in moderation! I sprinkle turmeric over all of my main meals because it is anti-inflammatory and helps with other aches and pains.

The Herpes Virus Association (http://www.hva.org.uk/coldsores.html) have this to say:

What can I do if a cold sore is starting to appear?

Apply well-wrapped ice for 90 minutes to cold the area, not cause frostbite.

Use a herbal cream made with lemon balm mint extract (melissa officinalis) such as Lomaherpan (formerly called LomaBrit). The active ingredient prevents the virus getting into the skin cells.

Can I speed up the healing process?

Cold used tea-bags applied hourly can help.

Geranium oil, tea tree oil also soothe and speed healing.

To prevent scabs from cracking and coming off too soon, keep the skin soft and moist with an unscented product such as Vaseline.

And of course you can continue to use Lomaherpan and LomaBrit

Hope some of this is helpful. I think the one thing I'm picking up from looking into this all is that so many people have it and SOOOOO many have it but don't know because they don't have symptoms and so are passing in on willy-nilly all over the place without realising it. That so many of us look to blame our last partner for the infection but you could have picked it up years and years ago and had no symptoms - it's just popped out when your immune system was down or you were stressed. The great fear for so many of us, and I am going to have to deal with this shortly because I have met someone really special, is telling someone and that they may reject us. C'est la vie!

A final sentence from the Herpes Virus Association regarding cold sores:

If friends/colleagues make comments, tell them they should be more considerate - they could have one next week. Cold sores are common and usually trivial. (italics and bold mine)

Let's fight this thing and get better.

Hi,  Eating a large slice of  pineapple everyday substantially reduces  outbreaks .  Try it its in expensive and good for yout too.

I used to get back to back outbreaks but I have the pineapple to thank for severely reducing my outbreaks.

If I feel an outbreak coming on I double my intake and have two large slices for a couple of days.   It works for me hope it works for you too.

    Hi again Talullah,

I can see that you're a fighter and not letting herpes dictate your life. That's awesome! Thanks for posting a link to REAL research!

Also to 2relifherp about the pineapple it's fascinating To me that pineapple gets rid of or prevents outbreaks ( I wonder what it is inside the pineapple that effects herpes ) ? So very interesting.  Does it completely stop outbreaks or do you have to keep eating it everyday? I mean nothing wrong with eating a tasty fruit everyday. I'm just curious if it's something that keeps herpes at bay for what's called ( a half life ) meaning it doesn't stay in your body that long.

    Love to hear more!

    Thanks again everyone

Hi  Scott,   Yeah I read somewhere that its the food based Vitamin  C in Pineapple ( Pineapple is supposed to be high in  Vit C )  However, I used to take vitamin C and it didnt help.

It is interesting.  I dont know whats in it but it truly is helping me.

I need to  take Pineapple daily,   i.e. would have a half life.

I have had an occasional outbreak and the attacks have been minor compared to how they used to be.  Now if I feel an attack coming on I double my pineapple intake.

I used to get back to back outbreaks but not any more.   They were horrible as soon as one outbreak finished I would have a short breather and then another attack.

I have been amazed and greatly relieved.

      Good luck with it

Hope it works for you too.  Please let me know how you go.

Thanks man! Thanks for getting back to my question. Awesome stuff

This is the Information Age ... Soon the "people" will have the control back due to everyone knowing critical info not just the elite.

I don't have or get outbreaks anymore due to the natural supplement I took ... It got rid of the outbreaks so far, and it's been quite awhile now, and I've stopped taking the supplement. And trust me I can sympathize with how bad your outbreaks were, because mine were so horrid... I won't go into details to gross everyone out.. But just when you think there isn't any hope ... Life becomes beautiful again!

I'll just eat more pineapple for added benefit

Thanks again man! God bless !

Hi, i have remedy. Ive suffered with this for 15 years, and tried every pill and potion from the doctors - nothing helped. I didnt have an outbreak for years until about 3 years ago and then i was hit with it twice, sometimes 3 times a month. In sheer desperation i went searching for alternative remedies. I read so many home remedies, and cannabis kept popping up, so i decided to read more. Smoking it makes the outbreaks worse apparently, but using it topically, in an oil form sounded promising, so i gave it a go - i was desperate after all. I aquired said plant (a very small amount) and popped it in a jar with coconut oil and cooked it. 5 hours it took and then i strained it. Its not a cure, but as soon as a blister appears i put a tiny drop of oil on it and its gone within 12 hours - completely. The pain is eased immediately. Im definitely going to give the pineapple a go! I hope this helps, i really do. Im not a drugs advocate by the way, but if you're in despair........xx
