Ottawa ON patients with bunionectomy?

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hi there. I just had my bunion surgery 2 weeks ago tomorrow. I'm in a cast for 6 weeks. YIKES! My foot / toe feels very numb right now. Is this normal? Also - does anyone know what I can expect re: getting cast off? I'm so scared of how I'm going to walk normally, what my foot will be like, what on earth kind of shoe will I wear at first while I recover? Any advice for this girl?  Also - did anyone go out 'into the world" while their foot looked like a clubbed hoof? Ug. Sign me Gimpy and bummed.

    Hi Jules

I had more than the bunion done. This means I'm in a cast for a total of 13 weeks. An extra week because of the bank holiday!

I went out for lunch on Tuesday. Today I've been to the dentist then into school. I'd knit some baby things for two baby showers. I've just woken up(04.30hrs) and every muscle in my body aches like I did a 6 hour Zumba class. My foot doesn't hurt though.

If I didn't go out I'd be going stir crazy.

I painted toe nails to match my cast ( shocking pink) and accepted all offers of assistance.

    Enjoy your recovery.
