OUCH FIRST OUTBREAK 😭

I was diagnosed with HSV2 ( Genitle Herpes ) about a year ago, it was actually 2 weeks after my husband and I got home from our Honeymoon. He cheated on me with several girls off of Craigslist and didn't use protection (3 years ago ) so it's been a year since I found out and I've never had an outbreak until now I think.... So here goes. I started having discomfort right after I started my period and at first I thought maybe it's the brand tampons I was using, but then it got worse! The itch and burn is so unbearable I swear if I had a penis I would cut it off!!! I'm not sure if outbreaks are worse for females or males, but I am thinking it's all inside and I can hardly bare to use the bathroom or sit down even more for that matter!!!! I also am noticing I am leaking a clear fluid , I guess you can say it's a discharge but there is no texture or odor but yet it drips out a lot to the point I don't want to even try to go anywhere because it always looks like I have wet my pants even if I wear a panty liner. So the doctor called in some meds to help with the outbreak but only gave me 3 days worth.... is that normal ? The itch and burn I am feeling is right at the opening and right on the inside of my vag. I am trying everything to get relief I have seriously never taken so many bathes in my life....
PLEASE HELP.....

Just curious, but why were you tested for herpes two weeks after your honeymoon if you have never had an outbreak until maybe now? How were you tested and what were your exact results if tested by blood? Not all testing methods are so accurate, hence my question, and if that's the case, you may wish to have yourself swab tested for herpes asap now to see if this is indeed an outbreak or not. First outbreaks mostly occur soon after infection and usually present with lesions.

I have been with my husband 8 years, we have only been married a year , he cheated on me with several women before we got married off of Craigslist, and didn't use protection. When we got married I was able to be added on top his insurance as I didn't have insurance before. First thing I did was go the the GYN and they did a pap / pelvic exam, and asked if I wanted a full std screen I said yes and told them about my husbands cheating, they did blood work and swabs. I got a call from the nurse and she told me that I have HSV2, and I'm pretty sure they aren't going to call me and tell me news like that with out being positive of the results

I was told it can lay dormitory and some people never have an outbreak and then others something can set it off to bring on the outbreak such as stress, period, sex and so on.... The pain began right when I started my period and has lasted over a week now. I'm not sure if the stress of my mother passing away and my period brought it on but I am definitely in pain down there and never had this before ever!!!! Please instead of questioning rather I am having an outbreak or not just help me with soothing suggestions. I am also going to the doctor Friday to be checked out to see if I can hopefully get some type of cream or gel to sooth the pain

It depends on the test. The antibody tests for herpes are not as good as for most other diseases. If it was the IgM antibody test, you can toss the results out the window, as it's unreliable, inaccurate and not recommended by the CDC for herpes, yet is still often used due to misinformed doctors and clinics. The IgG test is the important one to do, but even that can give a false low positive in some cases where there is pre-existing HSV1 (wherever located, with or without symptoms).
I would thus go back and ask for your lab report to see which test kit and test type was done on your blood for herpes, and report back with your exact results (should be numeric). In the meantime, I would get swab tested asap for herpes and whatever else the doctor suggests. There is a chance you do not have herpes. Was your husband ever confirmed to have it? You didn't say. Even if so, that doesn't necessarily mean you have it. Herpes is very complex.

I am trying to help you. Read my other reply. It's good to understand your test and results, as herpes testing is not so clear cut as for most other STDs. Whenever someone is only positive by blood with no outbreak or swab diagnosis, I always ask them to check their test type and numeric results.
While extended dormancy can happen, most symptomatic people get their first outbreak soon after infection, not months or years later. Or they are asymptomatic generally, usually because they already carry HSV1 which mitigates the symptoms of HSV2.

Then that is relatively high and unlikely to be false, if IgG. Good to clarify. For what's going on now, if your doctor thinks it's due to herpes, you will be prescribed antiviral meds. In the meantime, it's rather hard to suggest anything, since you have no external lesions to treat, which is the norm (hence why you might want to swab to confirm this is an outbreak; good to know for the next time). You can take ibuprofen or paracetamol for general pain relief.

They called me in a prescription. I've taken for 2 days so far and feeling better down there this morning, they only gave me 3 pills though . I am also taking epsom salt baths 2 times a day and it gave me some relief while I was soaking. I sure was hoping you would have wrote back saying that it can be false or very low or I could have had hsv1 and I was just having a bacteria infection, I hate having this living inside of me, and I honestly almost forgot about the results ( I put it in the back of my mind ) until this outbreak occurred. I was in so much pain it was almost unbearable 😭, I can only Pray I don't have anything like that ever again.... I am still tender but I am able to function today

I'm really sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. Stress really can play a role. in an outbreak. Try to drink plenty of fluids and get lots of rest.

I was just diagnosed last Wednesday and I'm still processing . But peeing a tub of warm water helps and ask for acyclovir for 1 year . That's the medication I got . It's for suppressive therapy . I still haven't figured out to shower properly . Where loose clothing . That helps as well . Periods can set it off btw .
