Ouch-incision

While I was laying down to ice it felt like my incision ripped open!!! It was sooo painful. The incision on the outside looks fine but o know there are many layers. Have not been on it much today, just testing. I hope I didn't do anything....

Be careful and ice is a good way to treat it. Take care with your movements

to stay with recovery techniques learned in the hospital and therapy.

It will not open inside although it really hurts and feels terrible. Take a pain med and rest. Do not over do lay down until the initial pain dissipates . Keep track of it be sure it's not red or showing signs of infection.

Sorry you had to go thru this. Many of us hippies have experienced what you describe and within a few hours it should calm down. There is so much struggling just getting up and down, walking etc that  it takes a roll on us.

hope your better soon. Take it easy for awhile.

    Hi Erika,

I had the same thing happen a couple of weeks ago when I was getting up off the floor from doing my exercises. It felt like someone stuck a piece of glass into me and felt very raw for a couple of days.

My PT said he was almost certainly I ripped some scar tissue which can be excruciating but not serious. He said scar tissue can be very lumpy and solid so if you pull it too hard it will tear but that it will just heal over again. Took a couple of days of rest and it started to feel better. It still feels slightly tender 10 days later but nothing to worry about. Scary at the time though!!

Well I am sorry to hear this happen to you as well. I bet that is exactly what it was. I will do exactly that, rest. Yes, I hate how lumpy my scar feels. Will that ever change?

Sounds bloody awful but excellent explanation and information!

Lumpy scar, massage, massage, massage and hopefully will even out over time but the scar tissue runs very deep, right down to the bone so that horrible sharp pain can happen again if we are not careful!

No one warns you of all this stuff! 😱

I had that getting into the car ..... felt tlike a zipper going.  I was convinced I had 'opened up', but no 'red juice' came out,so I hadn't.  The only thing I can think of is could it be the dissolvable stitches going?

I would get that feeling...the doctor said its the nerves...I told him it felt like I ripped the stiches open!! He said he hears it all the time...he told me it has something to do with the nerves when he pulls them aside...but I think if you did rip them under the skin...the incision site would feel hot...and get infected no?

But If you think something's wrong go see a doctor??

    Good luck!!

      Hi erika,

Scars have a life of their own, or so it seems to me -

I have 2 , one zipper on each side - at random times they will ask for attention - the 1st one really wanted to have a lot of attention . at some point it was hurting real bad and PT massaged the clumped tissue -

even now they will itch, or prick - not saying they look beautiful, but they are closed -

give it some tender loving care, sweetheart -

      big warm hug
