Ouch ouch ouch

I started reading this forum last night between midnight and 3 am as I tried to sleep with an ice pack between my legs. I have to say the ice pack did help with the pain.   I haven’t got my biopsy back but from everything I read, if I don’t have LS, I do t think the docs will have clue. Prior to diagnosis, my guano has me using a topical estrogen cream  in the area at night but that’s when I itch the worst.    So I have a couple of questions I am hoping you can help me with: 1) how do you NOT scratch if you itch... and if you scratch does it break the  skin even more?

2) what about wiping when urinating... it hurts and am I tearing the skin more? What to do....

Oh Nancy, you poor dear. My golly, how horrible. Start using olive oil on your self down there several times a day. Maybe use a wet wash cloth to wipe yourself with till you can get this under control. Several of us ladies use Email cream. It's 48$ on amazon and if you order it from there you will have in 2 days. Use a panty liner to keep panties clean. Some ladies don't wear undies when home. Hope these ideas help and help get you started with relief soon.

Im sorry for your pain. I never tried ice pack.   I’m almost sure you have  LS.  Get yourself a bottle water  and always water 💦 rinse.  For me cortisone 2.5 mix with vanicream relief me .    This was mixed by a specialty pharmacy. I also put my cream in the refrigerator , it’s a relief and soothing. Get a Qtip and add cream and inserted into your VJay.  Right now my LS has gone dormant.  I also  see a licensed practitioner of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine ,  and get heat therapy treatments “Moxibution “   You might want to look into it.  Take care ??

Never heard of heat treatment.  Thanks for the idea.

The ice really helps but nothing is in control. Did you use the steroid cream to get in control and then manage with the other or always using something forever?

Yes, I did use the steroid cream, for me it irrate and flared up worse. I forgot to mention I use pure coconut oil keep moisturerize, or Vaseline it also stay on longer. Again make sure to use your Qtip for inside.  I don’t hardly use underwear underneath my pants or Capris.  Let it air out.  ❤️

I'm stumpted about the itching problem, but with wiping - don't wipe just place the toilet paper over the urethra and let it soak in. Be as gentle as possible.

Oh Nancy , so sorry that your suffering so much , the itch is always worse during the night.

Try not to scratch as it makes the skin so sore.

I find spraying with Lavender oil

And bocarb mix is soothing .

Also i use a muslin cloth to dab after urination although i do dab also.

The steroid ointment will help  ut only use a small amount as less is more.

Also make sure you mousturise first.

    Commando whenever you can.

I do hope you got some rest xx

So is this a life long deal? Steroid cream forever! Always moisturizing or spraying? Or does it actually go dormant and can do nothing for awhile unless flares up?

Hi Nancy, from my experience living with LS and know of it, There is no cure!                            I’ve learned to manage it.    Yes!  for me it has gone dormant for as long 2 years.  During those two years my husband even notice i!  🤗

Hi Nancy , sadly no cure and yes it can go into remission .

Yet i have not experienced this and have tried many things.

Best advice i can give you is be careful as i have tried lots of different things, that lovely ladies on this site have recommended , but alas as LS is also very unique to each person it does react differantly .

I also do not over do things eith moisture or trying new things .

Although moisture is a must to keep fusing and friction at bay.

Also the spray cleans and soothes. Yes i spray all the time after using the bathroom.

Steroid ointment use sparingly and only when i get a tingle , you will recognise the signs.

Hope you get some relief soon xx

Hello Nancy. Before I was diagnosed or had any idea that I had LS I used to do the same as you, place a really cold flannel between my legs at night and it really helped. But once I was prescribed the steroid cream I didn't i back. Maybe ask for a different type? Sorry I can't help more...

Sorry to hear about the itching at night that’s when I get it I’m ok during the day but it starts about 9 o’clock every night. I use dermovate steroid cream and Hydromol Ointment which does give relief for a while. I have found something that works for me in the night I keep a small bottle of cold water beside my bed and when the itching starts I place this between my thighs against my vagina or anus whichever is itching the most. It really calms the itch without making me wet and I go back to sleep. Hope this helps.
