Due to circumstances that I can't really explain I haven't worked in over a year. I've always been a workaholic and when that changed my depression got out of whack. It also led to my horrible anxiety disorder now.

Your situation sounds very similar to mine. I have worked for 10 years solid, got made redundant in December and have hit a crossroads I suppose. At first because my anxiety was so bad I decided to take a month or two off, I thought to myself I have worked my arse off for years through pretty stressful times so I deserve a break, I also felt I needed it to give me time to get over everything Id been through. 5 months later though I feel like I'm going nowhere and no matter how hard im trying to find work its just not happening.

Are you looking for work or are you taking time out?

I remember saying to a former co-worker that I wish I could get 3months off. I ended up with over a year lol. I am looking for work now, I think it might help me control my anxiety and depression. Sitting around with time on my hands makes it easier to focus on my feelings, check&monitor my body (I'm a hypochondriac) n think of things that depress me.

I notice that I feel better whenever I'm distracted from anxiety.

what makes you feel happy and less anxious?

Lots of things make me happy but lots of things make me anxious. I find a lot of people dont understand my behaviour so I get a lot of accusations, a lot of assumptions and people who generally talk about me and my life when they have no clue what is going on. I think this is a big reason why I struggle to be myself and maybe struggle to find a job, it is always fear of what people think. I think well there only going to assume anyway so whats the point.

Im babbling anyway haha my family and friends make me happy, travelling, sport, lots of things really. Animals also make me smile, I have worked with them for the last 10 years which I have loved smile Listening to music and having a bath calms my anxiety too so because i am less anxious this makes me happy too smile

haha try to focus on the things that make you happy and do them more.

Do you have a therapist or a counsellor or someone who is trained to help?
