Outbreak on a period

I found out I have hsv2 about a year ago, since then Ive only had 1 minor outbreak and never on or near a period. Im in the middle of an outbreak now and am on meds for it but my period is starting. I need advice on how best to handle it. 

I assume tampons are bad because they can send the virus further inside is that correct?

Will it hurt to use a pad and just let the flow go past the sores? 

Ive been hurting pretty bad the last week and I just want this to be as painless as possible

    i also have had an outbreak when i was on my period, worst thing ever. i've still used tampons, i've never transferred it to the inside, pads are uncomfortable especially if the sore(s) are open. but change them more frequently to keep yourself dry down there. I would say eat lots of pineapples, and start on some lysine pills. i just got over an outbreak and the acyclovir helped, but not like the lysine did.

    I would check on the tampon thing to see if you can transfer it or not, if not, those are what i would use to keep you the most dry, and maybe a panty liner.

      Thank you much. I haven't tried lysine so I will look for that. I'm on the acyclovir now and its better but still very much there. Is lysine an over the counter thing or do you need a prescription?

      But I have qwestion. Why do you use acyclovir? I use valacyclovir or famvir. I think it is more effective drug smile

      no problem at all. and lysine i get over the counter, i get it from walmart and it's like $5 for a month supply. the acyclovir just isn't working for me either. i noticed in taking two lysine pills i was mostly cleared up, i could at least tolerate it! and now i'm third day in and don't feel it at all.

      But you don't use famvir! It is the most enemy of herpes!!! It price hire than acyclovir, but it is very effective! I don't think England people can not pay 40$ for famvir wink

      I use acyclover because that's what my doctor prescribed and I haven't had enough breakouts to think about looking into different drugs. It worked good the first time but its not working as good this time. Is farmvir a prescription or can you get it at a store? I've never heard of it before.

      OK! I think virus in you is used by acyclover. Famciclovir(famvir) stronger and is not used by herpes. I think famciclovir work always!!!

      I must say, that when I used acyclovir, I had problem(headache). With famciclovir I have not problem wink Good luck smile
