Outbreaks Every Month

I was recently diagnosed with HSV-1 and I get an outbreak EVERY SINGLE MONTH. I kept testing for HSV2 and was negative so I just got the current diagnosis. I've had this for 4 years now and have tried both valtrex and acyclovir to no avail. Is my dating life over?

hsv1 is so common tgat something like 80% of the population has it sure every other guy would have it maybe you can just let them know you get the cold sore virus if they ever had any cold sores. let me ask you though you never tested for HSV-1 you only tested for type 2 because you was exposed to that what made you

Thanks for your help! I think that sounds fair. I usually get a sore on my mouth/nose region once a month and its stressful knowing I can pass it on so I've been scared to kiss anybody.
I kept testing for HSV2 for the past 4 years because I knew I had exposure to it, but I just recently got a new doctor this year. When I asked to switch my antivirals to valtrex because acyclovir wasn't working she was reluctant because I kept testing negative. Same thing happens everytime with a new doc, I have to be adamant about having it because a lot of times they don't believe me. After the test she told me I had HSV 1 and was negative for type 2. Just strange because Type 1 usually has less outbreaks per year, but I get them monthly.

sounds like maybe a recent exposure if it's monthly. it'll get better in time for sure. I've had hsv1 for decades and last on was like 3 years ago.. soon enough you'll be much better. I say get off the meds and let yiur body handle it. meds delays antibodies. do you believe you had it 4 years from the same exposure. If you had oral outbreaks y didn't you test for hsv1 as well, and why didn't they swab it?

it isnt recent because ive had the same symptoms for years. i honestly thought they tested for both and it didnt even come to me to think that they didnt. i want to not have to take meds but 4 years is a long time to have constant outbreaks, my body isnt adjusting and when i get sick, the sores last for weeks. my initial outbreak was genital then its only been oral every month after that.

next time it happens go to the er and have them swab test it within 48 hrs of it appearing. it'll definetly give you the answers yiu seek.. the genital 1 time out break sounds like it could of been anything. If u had the blisters and sores that scabbed then it may of been hsv1. it sounds like it if you had 1 ob and none after. hsv1 doesn't shed as much in genitals and hsc2 doesn't shed as much in the oral region. If he gave you oral chances are possible both locations was infected if he was shedding that day

yeah that makes sense. is it common for the blisters to be different sometimes? ive never gotten a traditional looking cold sore on my mouth its more like a pimple on my face or bumps on my lips. but the bumps vs pimples look way different from each other but i know theyre both still contagious because it tingles before appearing.
