having a hard day with a lot of outer knee pain on TKR knee. Have physical therapy soon. I know to take a pill an hour before hand but is there anything else I can do?

Almost two hours before I can take pill if I just take the ine. Last one I took was at 2:20 this morning. It's now 19 hours later

Standard Ice and elevate.  Plus you can try some Voltaren Gel (RX in US).  Second best topical anti-inflammatory on the planet.  Check for possible interactions with your current meds.  Have your PT address the site of the pain and its possible causes.

Thank you I will do this shortly! I hope they have that gel here in US. The outside pain is really hard on me so these are excellent suggestions to explore.

I hope your wrist is doing well!

Just have your ortho call in a prescription for the Voltaren Gel.  Check for drug interactions but there are few.  I have found zero side effects; works in 15 minutes.  Great right before bed.

The wrist is fine...just takes a week to get the splint off and have the doc remove the stitches.  These ops are easy.  Hospital at 7:30; op at 9:00; home at 11:30; back to work at 12:30.  After 47 years on computer keyboards, I've needed 2 wrist fixes, one carpal tunnel op and seven (7) trigger finger releases.  As a gigging blues bassist, the work was mandatory to continue to play the instrument.  Just missing one practice this week.  Easy peasy...

That's great! Glad it wasn't too involved re recovery! Playing an instrument is fantastic!

Thanks again for your help 😘

    Hi Robin.

Are you using an ice pack throughout the day too. I take painkillers every 4 hrs in daytime I'm only on an over the counter drug no prescription . Massage the leg as often as you can not sure what week you are in. I've just completed week 5 and just beginning to feel an improvement and sleeping better the last few nights. Stick at it. Drink plenty too. X

      Thanks Daphne

i think I should  probably be icing more and I need to take pain med now 1/2 a pill in am and 1/2 at night if needed. It’s prescription. Also take on OT 1 pill for that. So most days pain pill is low which I prefer.

Good day at PT yesterday but boy I got sore on outside knee during the night which was not good. If that didn’t bother me it would be pretty smooth sailing at this point lol. A gel was recommended so I have called doc to see if I can get it.

      Thanks so much!
