Ovarian cyst

I've been having pain on my lower right side for some time now and have seen multiple doctors, they all tell me nothing is wrong. Last doctor i seen did an ultrasound and I did have a cyst on my right side, but then she also said nothing is wrong that the cyst are normal. Why would I still be having pain if it was normal?

Get on to your doctors!!! Cysts can be seen as normal when they are NOT causing pain and most doctors will wait for them to go away themselves.

However, if you are in pain, you must stress this to your doctor (or even find a new doctor if the other wont listen). I went through a year of suffering with severe pain to be told multiple misdiagnoses and even when they found the cyst I was told to leave it till it popped! My cyst would never have popped as when they opened me up they found it was a dermoid (solid)

If you feel you can't continue with normal life because of the cyst you must tell them this and demand to have it removed!

I hope you get this sorted as soon as possible x

    Hello,

Did the doctor say what size was the cyst was? Are they keeping an eye on it? If the pains are really bad go to a&e as that's what I did in the end.

I had an ultrasound but could only see fluid in my stomach then had a ct scan and found a large 36cm cyst which I had removed along with my left ovary via laparotomy in Jan.

I use to get a burning sensation down the right and left side of my stomach, pulling pains, and had trouble walking for a long time as it would hurt.

If the pains persist you just need to keep going back to the doctors and hospital don't let them fob you off, when I first went to the doctors they said it was ibs!

I was mis diagnosed 4x before finally getting treatment for my cyst! When i was 14 i began to get these sevre pains in my tummy, i couldnt move and constantly threw up for a week before the pains went away. The first time i had this, i went to the Dr for an emergency appointment and was told that i was probably just "overexaggerating my period pains"! Around two months later i had the same symptoms and was reffered to the hospital who said i was only an infection that would clear soon. i had these pains 2 more times after this, and was misdiagnised both times. My mum then booked me an appointment with a different Dr when i didnt have any pains, who we had to wait 3 weeks to see. When i saw him i didnt even have any pains and he immediatley said that there was either something wrong with either my womb or ovaries. I had a scan that showed a 13cm dermoid cyst, i had it removed and lost an ovary because of it.

My ovary may have been savable if something was done the first time i had my pain, and if you believe something is wrong then you should insist on getting it seen to!
