Ovarian Cyst

So, just got diagnosed with an ovarian cyst (complex). I know nothing about what is going to happen from here. Looking for some support/advice on what I should do. I am super worried. It is 8cmx6cm in size. Any advice out there? This is very much appreciated. A WORRIED TEACHER sad

With your cyst being complex and the size i would think your doctor would want to remove it

    Hi,

I understand your worry. I had a complex cyst two yrs ago of 5 cm and saw an excelkent specialist who recommended surgery to remove it as it will not shrink but can twist and burst. I chose the conservative approach and kept doing ongoing ultra sounds and blood tests and even used the pill but unfortunately kept growing in size until 6 weeks ago I had to accept doing a laproscopy to remove it. I was so scared as I have never had a major surgery but so glad I did as not only my cyst grew to over 8 cm in size but the specialist also removed grade 3 endometriosis ( advanced endo) plus another cyst and polyp and saved my ovary. If I lwft it any longer it could have bursted, twisted or adhesions from endo and my operation would have been much more complex . I strongly suggest you see the best specialist if yoy can as it makes a big difference and to have the operation as soon as possible which I am certain they will advise you to do. Nothing will shrink the complex cyst and especially that it is now big enough. Hope this helpssmile

Thanks for the advice. I am super worried and the not knowing is the WORST. Hopefully I get my MRI soon. I travel to far northern communities and am worried about it bursting. I am hoping to touch base with my doctor to see if it's still safe for me to travel. Would hate for it to burst and then be stuck up north with no way to get out. NOT helpful for my already anxious mind. Super helpful feedback, thanks.

Hello smile on my write up it said mine was also a complex cyst. I initially went to the doctors because I would get pain before period each month in one side and my they suspected Endometriosis and that the cyst on my ovary (a complex cyst) would be an endometrioma, a product if this particular condition. But after having my MRI scan, to confirm the correct size of the mass, it is infact a Dermoid Cyst 🤢one of those made of skin, hair and even teeth sometimes... horrid thought! But also a complex cyst. I think the best advise i can give you is go with your on this one. And try to think positive because 8cm isnt too large 😊 oh and try to bring somebody with you to appointments because it's always nice to have somebody who's got your back.. and they might think of some questions that you might not have thought of! I have a meeting today with my gynaecologist to discuss what they want to do with my cyst. I have one on my right ovary 10cmx6.5cmx6.2cm. If you have amy questions feel free to get in touch tqke care xx
