Ovarian Cyst and Acne

Hello my names Tanya, I have horrible acne my chin is all red with small pimples on top of each other. It’s also all over my cheeks. I went to get an ultrasound and found out I have a big ovarian cyst. I asked the ultrasound tech if it could possibly be pcos but she said it doesn’t look like it. Is there a way since the cyst is so big it caused me to have acne? Not because it might be pcos. Is it possible it isn’t pcos and just the size of the cyst. She couldn’t see anything with the Pap smear test since it was too big.

I'm almost relieved to see this post! I'm sorry about what you're going through, but I'm experiencing something similar. I also only have one cyst, but have been dealing with acne these past months. I got diagnosed on saturday. I think there has to be a connection! My guess is that it's hormonally related, whichever hormone is out of whack may be causing the acne. Through research I've discovered that most people who have ovarian cysts may be estrogen dominant, where their estrogen levels are higher in comparison to progesterone. One way that estrogen dominance can come about is from reabsorption of hormones through toxins that have not been evacuated (through colon, liver, etc). Do you have issues with constipation? I didn't realize I did until I got an x ray and saw how much waste was backed up inside of me. This in itself can also be a contributor to your acne. Exposure to estrogens through a variety of products and foods such a dairy or processed items can also do it. If you can, I reccomend getting a blood test to show levels of each hormone. Then you may be able to receieve specific treatment that would stop the development of future cysts, and it may relieve you of your symptoms. I hope you start feeling better soon!
