ovarian cyst causing anxiety please help!

Hi everyone! maybe someone on here can make me a little more at ease. late Friday night through early Saturday morning after I had intercourse with my fiance I had started expiriencing shooting sharp pains in my peliv/abdomen/rectal area. Pain got so bad I felt like I was going to faint. All of the sudden I felt the need to go #2 and when I tried it hurt so badly I instantly started vomiting. The feeling of passing out came back and I became very cold and sweaty. At that point I knew I had to go to the Hospial. There they did an ultrasound and took some blood and found I had a bleesing ovarian cyst that was 3cm, the doc also said my white blood cell count was high. which she determined was viral gastroenteritis(stomach flu). Needless to say with that diagnosis I was one sick puppy! pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. I couldn't work for 4 days and still felt horrible and couldn't work for 2 more days I tried to work on Thursday(I am a waitress)and it went somewhat ok but later in my shift I felt so nauseaous like on the verge of vomiting so I asked to go home. so I didn't work tonight. And i am starting to get major anxiety when I think about going back to work because Of feeling sick. Should I work tomorrow or should I give myself time? I know it's been along time already out of work but I still don't feel like my self at all. What should i do??

Hi jess, all the symptoms you described are the same as I have experienced when having a flare up. Mine started last summer had a few flare ups and one over Xmas which lasted 2 weeks where I felt out of sorts, the week before I had a transvanginal ultra sound, whether that made it flare up I don't know . Have had my pre

op appointment and now awaiting removal of both ovaries, I am 66 (feel about 20 though), so they are no good to me and it means they won't come back. As for you being off work I know how draining it makes you feel, so give your self time to recover, just don't leave it and keep on till its sorted, I was lucky and didn't have to wait long for my hospital appointments. Let me know how you get on. BRENDA

Thanks for your reply Brenda, sorry to hear about your upcoming surgery but I'm sure you're are a little relieved to know there will be no more pain and flare ups. I know I would. I dont need any surgery or anything and hope it just goes away likes it supposed to. Also concerned cause my ovaries are enlarged As well. My main fear is a flare up. I feel like i just cannot expireince those pains again! It was HORRIBLE and I'm worried I won't be able to have sex with my fIance. I would be devestated if we couldn't make love like normal people. Anyways, let me know how you get on as well Brenda. THANKS

Hi Brenda and jess- I'm 74 but previously fit and healthy. I had hysterectomy,Brenda on Jan 27th- because of 2 cysts 5cm and 8cms and it went really well. I've been lucky in that I had no pain at all before op and afterwards it was easily controlled with paracetomol. I'm 4 weeks into recovery and out socialising, walking driving and even going back to gym on Monday for gentle walks and swimming. These flare ups you are both having sound scary and I can understand why waitressing is not on! Stay off work jess until you get help. Good luck to both of you there is a light at the end of the tunnel! x
