Ovarian Cyst or Ovarian Cancer?

NEED ADVICE ASAP:

For the past 4 months I have had right hip pain. Being a Soldier, I run a lot. So I figured it was just over use and since I am a medic I know to rest & use ice/heat. Finally decided to go to the PA in Sept. Since then I have had several test: XRAY's, MRI's & Bone Scan done. The PA has changed my diagnosis multiple times from pulled hamstring in my right thigh, to pulled right hip flexors, to right hip stress fractures and finally up til yesterday said I had a torn labrum. All the while the pain never subsided and has just gotten worse. Over the past few weeks ive been experiencing weird symptoms. I get really bad headaches with dizziness, breast tenderness, constant pain/pressure in my lower back right side, I cant get comfortable at night so I don't sleep, im tired all the time and no meds make the pain go away. I've never had pain during sex but about a month ago-ish, during sex I felt like my right ovary was being punched, it was a sharp sudden kinda crippling pain, but didn't last long. No this is physically impossible. I let it go. However, last weekend it happened again. But this time the pain lasted longer and hurt a lot more. I called my mom & she said she had cysts her whole life til she got a hysterectomy. I mentioned something to my PA Monday about it. He laughed it off and made me feel stupid I suppose. He said it could be normal and that I more than likely don't have cysts & my mom was probably wrong.

Finally I saw a surgeon about hip surgery. He was astonished at the MRI he had in front of him. Visibly concerned. Not about my so called "torn labrum" but the fact that my PA never bothered to look at the MRI, just read the paper of bone/joint results and went about his business. The MAJ then gave me news that I had been dreading. He showed me what my right ovary looked like & said that it was covered with cysts & that my PA should of referred me right away. Not only my right ovary but also my left is covered. Once I told him about everything going on + the fact I have hg cervical dysplasia and that both my mom & grandma had cancer in their cervix, fallopian tubes, ovaries and uterus, his concern only grew. I am 23 years old (tomorrow is my birthday), I have never been able to get pregnant 6 years ttc), I am active, I am scared, I am stationed 5000mi away from home, and I am concerned. I have no one to turn to & I don't want to keep worrying my mother. I am attaching images of my MRI, any and all advice/help is greatly appreciated. I am not sure what to do. I am currently awaiting an appointment for Gyno & nothing was said about the actual problem in my hip or if the problems I'm having are related. PLEASE HELP.

    Bless you what a nightmare, I sympathise it must have been so frustrating waiting for a proper diagnosis, while fighting for your country X Hopefully now they have found the cysts, you will be treated and be able to enjoy life again. I'm sure that even if you require surgery, they will be able to something so you can have children in the future, discuss all your options with your gynaecologist. I am waiting for surgery too, for a very large ovarian cyst, feeling scared, but hopeful that once I have had the operation my life can begin again smile Best of luck and feel free to contact me for a chat X Keep in touch with your mum through Skype if you can, she must be so worried and you need the love & support at the moment JXXXX

    I had a cyst removed last October that measured 14x9x8.5cm, totally unaware of it until a routine scan showed it up. Although I had been experiencing heavy periods, back ache & occasionally a very intense pain where the cyst was, i thought it was all part of being a woman and enduring these pains!!

    Like you I was very scared and unfortunately turning to the internet is perhaps not the best thing. Talking to my mum it turns out she had suffered from cysts and had been regularly monitored!

    Luckily I managed to go private & the first thing they did was take bloods & test my CA levels, luckily they were low.......my consultant did say it was very unlikely it would be cancer as I was too young(i'm 42!!)

    My advise to you is to now push for further scans, bloods etc and a view to surgery. Depending on the type of cyst wil depend on surgery style....mine was a dermoid so was solid and had to be removed via a laparotomy, if they are fluid filled cysts then keyhole is the option.

    I wish you well and please don't worry....it's not until you are in this situation that you realise how common these damn things arebiggrin xx
