Ovarian cyst size of blueberry, hormone levels out of whack, how do I manage this?

Hi everyone. I'm new here. I'm a 24 year old, and I was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst on my left ovary. According to the ultrasound it has calcification, and I did have one on my right ovary but that ruptured. Now my first symptom of all of this was irregular menstrual cycles that started back in April and have since continued through to present day (09/19), which my doctor is trying to correct through changing my birth control hormone levels. My specialist agrees with this choice, he seems to think it will cause my calcified cyst to shrink. My specialist also thinks that the cyst was either a failed egg or an older cyst.

My main problem is all of the symptoms I'm currently trying to manage: I am EXHAUSTED, bloated (have been for what feels like months now), I get heat flashes, I feel more full quickly (at work all I can finish is a half of a PB&J) and along with the full feeling, I get nausea.

I called my doctor and the most they could tell me is to manage my pain and push through this because hormone changes can take some time. I finished the new pack of my birth control pills, experienced no breakthrough bleeding-but my period didn't start until I started my second pack of birth control and is very heavy. I don't go back to my specialist until October 9th where I'll have an ultrasound done again to check the status of the cyst.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Are my doctors and specialist doing the right thing?

Also, I will add, that my specialist feels that because the cyst is the size of a blueberry I shouldn't be experiencing this much pain...

To me it doesn't matter the size cause i had pain when the cysts was on both size of my ovaries i had my left ovary and tube removed cause mine was enlarging but the one on my right side disappeared i had the same feeling about the eating and i had bloating with constipation i couldn't really eat cause i was always full and didn't eat nothing they probably want to see if it had decreased and not increased before they do anything i had mine for a years before they did anything so everything will be ok

hi, did they remove your ovary when the cyst ruptured? I think if I were you I would ask to see the specialist again as hot flushes are a sign of oestrogen being low as happens in the menopause. I am not sure if the pill sorts this out as I am much older and am on HRT . Obviously the pill contains oestrogen so maybe they are hoping it will sort out your symptoms in time. My experience of GPs is that they are as helpful as they can be but at the end of the day they aren't specialists and have to deal with so many different problems they may not know enough about hormonal problems to know what is going on.
